In the spirit of having a cozy home here on Pattern Review for the owners of different brands... it seems there hasn't been one for Brother and Babylock.

Brother and Babylock share almost identical models under each brand name. So it makes sense to bring the issues here because if someone is looking for help with a certain issue... someone with the other brand still may be able to help the user.

So glad to see a Baby Lock board!

I'm currently trying to decide between a Crescendo and an Aria...

Nice to find a home here. I feel like a lot of us B machine owners have just been floating around the boards a bit. Thanks for starting the thread.

And can I just say, I love my Brothers and BL. Just love them.

(I've been dying to say that.)

I am SO glad to see this! I'm torn between keeping my temperamental Pfaff Sensation and trading it in for a Babylock Gold....decisions, decisions.

I know generally Babylock owners seem like a happy crowd, but I don't often hear from the Brother bunch! I looked at the Brother Dreamweaver combo and it seemed really nice.

I think both Brother and Babylock are way more user friendly, for sure.

Can't beat the brand for embroidery, IMO!

You just don't hear of major issues with the Golds like you do with other comparably priced other brand TOL's. I think there are a fair amount of people using B/B TOL's.. they just must be busy sewing and not complaining!

I was sold as soon as I saw how the camera gizmo works... once you've had that for *perfect*, no guessing placement... I can't imagine ever wanting any other brand of embroidery machine.

Also.. the software on the Ellie G's is pretty substantial... I get away with doing most of the stuff I need to do without feeling the need for software.

Kinda funny to see the action happenin' here at this moment... I'm not a football fan... but I turned on the SuperBowl just to see the commercials... and just in time to watch the last little bit of half time show... and then to see the Broncs get slammed with another touchdown in the first 10 seconds of the 3rd. And while writing this... the Broncs just got slapped again.

So what's the deal? We BB fans don't do football?!?!? lol

I absolutely love my Elna and Pfaff for sewing but you can't beat my Brother and Babylock for embroidery!! No brand snobs in my house. Seriously the screens on my Brother and Babylock have identical icons. I have embroidered with multiple brands but these are the most user friendly.

I'm so madly in love with my Brother PC 420 that I want to propose marriage to it.... It took buying another high end brand (I won't brand bash since this is about Brother but you can read what machines I own in the footer below my posts and use deductive reasoning to figure out the other brand :o) !) To make me realize how amazing my humble, richly featured Brother is!

------
My machines listed in the order I got them:

Vintage metal Brother straight stitcher (Gretta)
Brother PC-420 (Benny)
Bernina Artista 200 (Miss Priss)
Vintage hand crank Singer 128 clone with LaVincendora decals (Vinny)

I have the Janome equivalent of your Elna 740. I even had $$ down on the Elna, but I found the Janome for $700 less.. and the Janome has the auto single hole needle plate gizmo.

I *love* my Janome dual feed gizmo (DFG to me) - I think it's the best dual feed of *any* machine out there ... but for just sweet piecing or doing embroidery - love the Ellisimo.

The number of features on even the most inexpensive Brothers (for the price!) just blow the other brands outta the water, IMO.

Especially the auto needle threaders on the embroidery machines! They're amazing.
