Hilarious! Though if I had fresh lipstick on when my husband came home he might think I was up to something more than sewing....

My chuckle for the morning

Wondering what the chalk on the finger tips is suppose to do. I have to have hand cream next to my machine, or I would pick the material to complete "un-use"

Bah! I'm lucky if I have pants on.

The #1 drawback about not having a dedicated sewing room anymore is that I have to sew fully dressed.

Hmmm...wondering if they maybe had a little more time on their hands in 1949...?

No...not more time on their hands...probably much less. I remember my Mother would never go without her powder and lipstick every day...and cooking everything from scratch, vacuuming every day and many other household chores including LOTS of ironing...and sewing clothes for my sister and me. She didn't work at a job outside the home until we kids were older and even then that was part-time...but at home her days were constantly filled with hard work...and still she had to look "put together".

I only wear undergarments so that I can easily fit as I go. I acutally keep a house coat on my sewing door just in case someone comes to the door

Ah, yes. The days before text, emails and phones with unlimited calls! We just walked down the road to our neighbor's for a cup of tea, rarely knocked- just a call out as we opened the door. If the house was empty we tried the garden, often leaving with excess vegetables after helping to weed a bit. If not home, we borrowed eggs or milk or sugar or salt and left a note! But it was ever so much fun to drop in for a chat when you had the time. I never was a lipstick person though.
