Since I upgraded to V7 embroidery software, I'm unable to write designs to my machine so that I don't have to stay connected to my computer.

Historically, with V6 embroidery software and earlier, I'd click card/machine write, then I'd get a dialogue box showing my machine and how much space I have for designs. I could then write a design to my machine, where they'd stay until I deleted them.

Now, when I choose card/machine write, I get a dialogue box with icons. The Help manual directs me to choose the icon with the file folder and machine on it, but that one is never active for me. So I have to pick the cable icon, and then I get a quick dialogue box that says, "Data Exchange Running. The design pops open on my machine, but is not saved there, so once I stitch it out or turn off my machine, it's gone.

My dealer is perplexed. So I'm hoping somebody out there is operating with the same setup or has experienced this issue and can offer some insight.

Another weird thing is that I can send a design to be stitched out, and it loads on my machine, but if I then open "Read from Machine" on my computer, I get a message saying that the machine can't be found (while the design I just sent from the same computer is merrily blinking away on my machine).

Anybody??

There is a YouTube video by JoeKind on the v.7 software and the Bernina 165. Maybe it will help you.

Dealer confirmed with her software educator that it's a bug, so they're hoping it will be fixed in a much-anticipated update to V7. Just wanted to mention in case anybody else runs into this problem!
