Hi. im pretty confused when it comes to pattern sizing. Most especially P5 and R5. What does these mean exactly? Thanks so much. I'm a beginner and i hope to get help from you guys.

Erm, which pattern brand are you using and what are you making?

My guess is P and R mean petite and regular. This might mean there's a tall size as well (T5).

hiim using simplicity patterns. im confused because i also saw K5 pattern size of simplicity.

P5, H5, R5 etc. are labels given to a group of sizes in the same pattern envelope. For example, it might say "H5 (6-8-10-12-14)" or "R5 (14-16-18-20-22)". So they are not sizes as such. The sizes are the numbers in brackets.

However, what really matters is your measurements. You need to measure your bust, waist, hips (at minimum) and then find the size that most closely matches your measurements. Then, when you go to purchase the pattern, pick the size grouping that includes the size you need.

Hope that makes sense. It's a bit hard to explain!
