Ok tried to get the info I needed by posting on the Pfaff Facebook page.
Here's my question and their answer:
Can pre wound embroidery thread bobbins be used with a Creative Vision 5.0? If so which one(s)?
Is it still possible to upgrade from a Creative Vision 5.0 to a 5.5? Is there a charge for this? Is this upgrade done by my dealer or available on your web site for consumers?
Thanks!!

Response from Pfaff:
You can use pre-wounds, we only recommend the NEBS, the part number is 140000746. As for upgrading from your 5.0 to a 5.5, she will need to contact her dealer for this information. They often times will take trade-ins on machines.

I am still shaking my head. I don't want to trade in my 5.0 to buy a 5.5. I see many posts here where people have upgraded their 5.0 to a 5.5. Can any of you comment on what is required to do that?
Hardware, and/or software modification?
Is there a cost?
Is it still available?
The Pfaff techs where I bought my used machine have not worked there very long and are not sure.

Thanks once again to you all!!!

It's been a while since I had the 5.0. Make sure you have the latest software update for it. That will give you stitches/hoop options that the 5.5 has. You can find it on Pfaff's website.

You cannot retrofit the 5.0 to be exactly like the 5.5 with regard to hardware. The 5.5 has a different & better feed dog system but you can't put that on the 5.0. There was a hardware 'upgrade' for the 5.0 which entailed putting in a new take up lever & a different tension guide on top. Some dealers did it for free & some charged. That was some years back. I'm guessing dealers would now charge. You don't say where/when you got the 5.0. It's possible the uptake lever/tension disc upgrade has been done to yours. The reason they replaced the uptake lever is because most people were having constant thread breakage & the upgraded take up lever took care of that issue. Your techs should be able to tell if you have that upgrade & if they don't know they should be able to get info from Pfaff about that. While they haven't worked very long on the Pfaff they should know how to contact their Pfaff support which Pfaff has for dealers & techs. Hope this helps. Good luck.

There is a new update for the creative machines. It is for the metal hoop that came out. It came out 1 29 2014.
This is for all of the creative machines
