Received an offer in the mail today from Creative Machine Embroidery. I'm mega new to embroidery, so always looking for tips / help / ideas.
Appreciate updates if anyone enjoys this publication.
thanks!

I subscribed to this magazine and Designs In Machine Embroidery magazine several years ago. I found them mostly an avenue for selling rather than learning.

Visit their websites to see what is available free, or visit Sewing With Nancy for tutorials.

I taught myself using the Jeanine Twgg books. If interested, the best prices are usually on Amazon. You might want to start with this one.

They are pricey, and it is mostly adds, might be a few projects, but you usually have to purchase the designs. buy them if I like the projects once in a while, but never suscribe

Thanks for the advice. I'm currently overwhelmed with all the information online.

I subscribed for a year and dropped. Same with Designs in Machine Emb. Emblibrary is good for techniques and books from the library, too.
I found the projects in the magazines tacky and I was mostly interested in techniques.
It is overwhelming when you begin. Don't get discouraged. Seek local classes when you can.

I subscribed for the first year I was learning machine embroidery and enjoyed it. There are some informative articles and lots of projects in which I had no interest. I read the instructions, though, to glean knowledge about stabilizers and such.

It was worth it to me for that first year, but after that, I let the subscription go and purchased the occasional copy at our local JoAnn's. After a while, I felt I did not need it any more.

Here are some links to books that I have and like:

Nancy Zieman embroidery book

Deborah Jones embroidery book

Wild and Wacky embroidery

Embroidery Room by Room

I have purchased all of these books and find them to be of good value to me. I have been embroidering for 10+ years now and used these books to help me learn.

Also the RNK website has good information on stabilizers and hooping. Yes, they are a commercial website, but their tips can apply to any stabilizer, though I do recommend Floriani stabilizer. Not affiliated, just like their stuff. Anyway:
