My friend loves the shabby chic style of clothing but cannot find patterns. (check Magnolia Pearl) Does anyone know if there are clothing patterns out there in this style?

You won't find patterns exactly like the style, but get one that has the basic shape you want and alter it. I have one of the Japanese fashion books Simple Modern Sewing that has some designs sort of like Magnolia Pearl's.

The secret to the shabby chic look is the fabric- and lace.

A local boutique that carries Magnolia Pearl began selling the Tina Givens line . The styles are very similar, but the details are a little simpler and I didn't see any vintage linens used in the pieces that I saw. I recognized the linen colors and weight from my usual source-- fabrics-store.com.

I found Tina Givens' sewing website and discovered that she has a pattern line and designs fabrics. sewtinagivens.com. I have not ordered one of her patterns because I usually modify and add Lagenlook detailing to patterns I already have. I find that my Cutting Line Design and Sewing Workshop patterns are a good base for these alterations. I have considered ordering a pattern just to see if she has instructions for raw edged detailing.

I also ordered a book by Habibe Acikgoz Bold and Beautiful Easy-Sew Clothes Regardless of the title, I find the designs are easy but due to very limited instructions, not for the novice. They are also very over-sized.

ETA: I hadn't checked the Tina Givens website in a while. She has some new PDF patterns that I really like. I'm going to download a few of them on Monday at work. There are even a few freebies.

Tina Givens patterns are perfect for sewing this look. In addition to the PDF patterns, she offers a growing line of printed patterns as well. I have been thrilled with the results and the instructions are easy to follow, and she always includes tips for designer features.
