One that holds different sizes

I'm looking for a free standing basic sturdy thread spool holder that I can use instead of my sewing machine's thread holder. I plan to use it with several different brands of sewing machines. I'd like to be able to use smaller spools up to the larger spools you can get from the cleaner's supply types of stores. Does anyone have a favorite?

I certainly do! I love this one from Superior Threads!

I see that it's out of stock right now but it's worth waiting for.

I have one similar to this one. I use it for machine embroidery when many different thread colors are needed for one stitch out.

Sorry, I had a boy on my computer. The one from Superior Threads is closest to what I'm thinking about, and I think the feed from the cones might be superior too. The price fits in a little better with my budget too.

Thank you. I think I'm going to look at the out of stock one a little closer when I get my laptop turned on.

So, I read a "pinterest" pin once that said to put the cone into a quart mason jar and place it behind and beside your machine and thread it normally. I tried this once and it worked really well. Maybe you don't have to buy something.

I wanted that one!

But I was having a particular problem and had to get it solved fast, so I ordered this one from Wawak. Not as good, plastic bottom, but it has worked and didn't tip over like I feared.

I suspect Superior acquired or copied this product:

Looks like you can currently get them from that site.

Try Amazon - they have the Universal Cone and Spool Stand (cast iron base) and the Superior Thread Holder (for less).
I have 2 like the Universal Stand and really like them.
Sorry, I don't know how to copy the link:(

I have the one with the cast iron base and like it very much. It stays where you put it!

This really does work and I have used this method long before Pinterest was even in dream mode.

Heavy mug works as well.
