I jumped in and sewed my very first Burda mag pattern this month (the drape top from 2/2014.

Then I saw a muslin of this jacket in the issue and traced that off (yet to muslin it).

Then I had to have the peplum sleeves top and dress so I traced that off and made a muslin (didn't work out unfortunately).

Now I've just traced a top from the 11/2012 issue and have sewn TWO of them tonight! (Caveat: it's a knit and so the serger makes quick work of it).

I'm hooked. HOOKED! :)

Hello.
My name is Pinkytoo and I'm a Burdaholic.
Be careful though, they will suck you in and then the next thing you know you are spending FIVE MONTHS on a jacket that looked "so cute" in the magazine that you just HAD to make it and then never wore...
(cough 01-2009-114B cough).

For tracing I use the 1" grid-marked "interfacing" (or whatever it is) that they sell at JoAnns, next meeting to be held when JoAnns has a 50% off interfacing sale.

Five months?! You didn't like the end result?

I've got some kind of related issue...I've traced 4 patterns and not made 1 yet. What's that all about!?

Congrats on your first Burda magazine project!

I don't know if I am a Burda-holic (could be in denial) but I always look for a style first in my Burda magazines before checking other pattern lines. And I have 10 years of issues, plus some vintage 60's and 70's issues, so maybe I am a Burda-holic.

You say Burdaholic like its a bad thing
I love that I can buy a fashion mag and its gives me the patterns too. Its been my preferred pattern brand since my first purchase back in 2003 Welcome to the fold

When I discovered that my local library had Burda back issues, I would spend long nights tracing multiple patterns. I now have a binder replete with patterns, and have completed exactly one! I also just renewed my subscription and received February and March on the same day .

Read my review.
I have now hauled that @#$%^&* jacket across the country (and soon to be BACK across the country) and through 3 different residences in my 3+ years here, and wore it exactly ONCE. It looks nice on the hanger though...
