Hello all. I recently bought a new ruffler foot on eBay, and I'm almost certain I set it up correctly and put the fabric in the way I ought to, but for some reason, it only wants to work when it is set to ruffle every 12th stitch. The pleater thing that moves every X-number of stitches does not move at all when I set it to every six or one stitch.

Have any of you had a similar issue or any idea how to fix it?

Thanks in advance!!

Have you tried in on different fabrics? I found that it only works on light- to medium-weight woven fabrics.

They are tricky to set up.

It's strange that it will work on the 12 setting but not others. I will try a different fabric to be sure, but the main reason I bought it was to ruffle tulle for me to attach to a lining of a skirt to have the cute pleated tulle peeking out, y'know?

Thanks for the reply!! :D

Do a find here...ruffler, boards. See the box in the upper left of this screen for search.

Click on the topic "using a ruffler" started by Jacqui

The second post has a link for a 65 page tutorial. Amazing reference for using a ruffler foot. My generic did not work at first. That tutorial is "the" bible for a ruffler. Great resource.

A little too sleepy to get the link posted here...insomnia and meds and a very bad cough...

Anyway, give it a try.

Yes, Diane posted it on my ruffler thread. Here is the link for the tutorial. I agree this is an amazing resource, hopefully it will help sort out the problem.

I'm not sure why it's taking you to a facebook login, I see it as being on the site www.youcanmakethis.com

Try copy-and-pasting that link into your browser. Then click on the *free* tab and scroll down until you see *the ruffler... unruffled*. It is a free download.

I tried a couple of ways, and get a login screen also. I'm not sure if it's for the free pattern club site or facebook. It has "connect with facebook" right above where you put in first & last name.

I'm not on facebook either, and don't want to be, so I'm hesitating to go any farther until I know for sure where the login is for. Methinks the wording could make it more clear.

I have a ruffler, never used it. I do have a Threads article which was very nice, but it was nowhere near 67 pages of information!

Yes, and once I click on the "Download for free" a sign-up sheet pops up. It looks like connecting with facebook is an option, but it definitely wants you to sign up to be a member of the freepatternclub.

I think I would rather not be a member of the freepatternclub since I don't know what it is."Free" to me means free. If I have to "pay" with my information and email address, that's not free.

Happily, my ruffler works just fine.

I downloaded the ruffler tutorial before one had to sign up to get it. It is great with a ton of information and the best free one I've seen. Then they wanted people to sign up, so don't think I went there again, but it is free.

I see the confusion with the words which include Facebook. It's not clear. If you hover over those words, it does say that it is the login for YouCan Make This". They make it sound like you can use your Facebook account to login but that just doesn't sound right, even though there are sites where you can do that. Maybe someone who has done this will pop in and clarify everything.

When I got my copy it was at http://dressydolly.com , but I checked and the site is just selling dolls now.
