I am wanting to venture into making t-shirts. I do have a JA's nearby. But I want to see what else is out there for cotton jersey. Any websites that anybody recommends?

Thanks!

I tend to avoid cotton jersey since it doesn't have very good recovery. However, if it also has some spandex blended with it, cotton can be fine.

I tend to favor rayon/spandex or poly/poly blend jerseys, double knits and pontes in general.

When I was in NYC I bought some cotton spandex from Spandex House that was really great for leggings. Looking forward to seeing what others recommend.

I am also searching for jersey knit suitable for long sleeve t-shirts, preferably a blend. I love what I see on the Girl Charlee website but disappointed to learn that I had to order in full yards. I only need 1 1/2 yards in each piece. Any other good online sources?

i've made shirts out of robert kaufman's laguna stretch cotton jersey with really good success. it's 96% cotton, 4% lycra. i've made shirts in 3 of the 4 colors that i bought. it seems to wash well, and it is comfy. i will be ordering more for sure. i got mine from fabric.com, but i know other places stock it.

ETA- the laguna jersey is pretty lightweight, but it isn't see thru :)

it doesn't matter what type of sewing you do. you are sewing, and sewing is good.

Hi Sewncooknmom,
I bought some Bare Knits cotton interlock from Nancy's Notions, and it made some really nice Ts. It is what I've seen described as "beefy", nice and thick and not flimsy. It cost $14 a yd and was well worth it. They do sell 1/2 yds, too.

It's something you might check out.

Rosehatten- Thanks SO MUCH for posting that. I have been searching for months for 100% cotton for T shirts. So disappointed in the flimsy stuff and not looking for recovery. I was tempted by NN so will give it a try.

I usually get rayon blends for knit tops and tees, and buy the majority of it at Marcy Tilton.
For the sparkly stuff I shop EmmaOneSock.

There is also the Christine Jonson website for knits. Note that her prices are for half yard increments. (I hate that.) I don't know if she has all cotton or just blends; with a quick glance I just saw blends.

Sarah Velben's site has some high-end cotton knits, but only in white and black (at least right now).

I use Emma One Sock and Mood. I like the Modal with the climate down here.
