Hi Ladies,
I'm hoping someone here can help me out a little bit...I recently was organizing all my sewing machine accessory boxes, manuals, trying to get them all in one place (11 machines)...
Well, I finally found the Key to my grandma's 1927 Singer 99...I also found a box of accessories she had for it...There were 3 feet I'd NEVER seen before...I googeled each one and this style-o-matic foot seems to take the cake... Mine is complete with instruction booklet.

Is this foot really that sought after?
Is someone really going to pay over 400.00 for this piece?

I found 4 other feet on the web, 1 on etsy for 525.00, ruby lane $495, april 1930's $529, and a fellow ebayer from the UK for 450

I can't seem to find out why this foot is so sought after, other than it will do 17 different finished with just this one foot.

Any information would be so very much appreciated!
Thank you in advance!!

Yes.

Yes. If you have all the pieces and in good condition (ie rust-free).

Because it's rare.

THank you LynnRowe!! Here is a picture of mine.
What a gem!! A little bit of rust, but I've NOT cleaned the foot at all. I'm sure that it would come off easily... :o)

I have one of these attachments.

It was in the attachment box of a $20 thrift store sewing machine I purchased. To tell the honest truth, I find it to be large, bulky and awkward to use.

I suspect if it had been a smash hit, it would have had a longer production run.

If I had a few hundred dollars to spend, I would buy a Singer " Penguin" walking foot before I would invest in the Style O Matic attachment.

April 1930's Style-O-Matic page with photos of demos.

You can download a PDF of the manual at the bottom of the page which claims is does "17 kinds of finishes". I'd find this most useful for heirloom type sewing: insetting lace, and sewing braid, etc.

Goodness, what DOESN'T this thing do? It seems to be the ultimate Combo attachment. I have seen or collected other attachments that do similar finishes, but one at a time, one or two finishes for each attachment.

I wonder about the high prices because it seems like those items listed at Etsy and Ruby Lane have been listed forever. If they were commanding such a high price wouldn't they have sold by now?

The vendors may have sold them & replaced them, keeping the same ads and photos up for the same attachments,

Check ebay; those scarce/rare vintage attachments do sell, and for high prices, although better deals can be had on ebay than through most of the Etsy/Ruby Lane vendors.
