Where can I find stretch mesh (very thin preferably) in NYC for a decent price? Spandex House has but they are pretty pricey ($6 per yard) and they don't have the colors I am looking for (very soft pastels).

I have found stretch mesh for $3 a yard in discount fabric stores but not the colors I am looking for.

Any suggestions?

Honestly, $6/yd seems awfully reasonable to me. My local store, which prices everything quite fairly, sells 60" stretch mesh for $11.98/yd. Any cheaper than $6, and I fear we're in scratchy nylon netting territory.

I have found for $3 a yard in discount fabric stores, just not in the colors I need. I think there must be cheaper in NYC I am just sure where

I would be willing to pay $6 if there was a bigger selection of pastel colors.

Spandex House, Spandex World and Stretch House all carry a wide variety of colours -- I don't know that you will do better than $6/ yard unless you go to a discount warehouse and then your selection will be limited.

The reason you find it at a discount warehouse for $3/yard is that it is the colours that stores can't get rid of so they warehouse it; or it is overstock; or it has been bought from a bankruptcy or going out of business stock.

If you want very thin and pastel colours, you may want to check out glissenette -- I know Spandex House carries a pastel pink because I just used it for a group of costumes. However, it is $8/yard.
