There are 13 favorable reviews here of Loes Hinse's easy New York dress. You can put in darts or not.

Are you looking for casual or dressy?
M 6744 and V 8822 are on my summer lists.
S 1693 is for wovens, but I have elminated darts and it worked fine for a longer top.
Free patterns mentioned here like the Scoop T could be morphed with an A-line skirt from another pattern into a casual T-shirt knee-length dress.

Burda 6910

The midsection is ruched, but lots of people have been making the top and loving it.

I have the stretch and sew patterns from the '70's, and 80's. They have no darts and depending on your shape, they fit great.
By shape, I mean sometimes a dart can make a huge difference, but if you are average through the bust these patterns are great, and basic enough to be used as a block. (I hope that is the right word) to create your own design ideas.

Stretch and Sew patterns are great. For years, they were our best shot at sewing something with a RTW fit. Styles are a bit snugger than they used to be, and there are a lot of knits with more stretch than the patterns call for, but with S&S, it's very easy to drop down a size and still get an excellent fit.

How about Maria Denmark Audrey Knit Dress? This is a digital download pattern that has had good reviews. I just recently downloaded this but haven't made it up yet.
