Removed link...see kkkkaty's post

So...I am going to be 65 in another couple months. I love this skirt! Not crazy about the bodice but that's easy to fix. I'm working on a size 14 pattern for my upper chest, back and hips. For the top, D cup at 40-1/2" full bust.

The question: Is this too young for me?
I will also send DD a link and ask her. In the past few years I have lost about 25 pounds and I work out 4-5 days a week. A few days ago someone said something about someone being "small like you" when I don't think of myself as being small, although I would say I am trim. My friends would say I am young at heart, I think.

Clearly I am trying to justify the appropriateness of making this dress for myself. I would hem it just above m knee (I'm 5'2").

The link isn't going to the right place for some reason. I found the dress online though, and it looks lovely. Not too young at all, in my opinion....

here's one that I think will work: 1398

I think it's great! 65 is just a number after all, and if it looks good on you nothing else matters.

I don't think it's too young. It is sleeveless but I was just visiting Arizona and there were a number of women "of a certain age" in sleeveless who looked great. I think it will depend on the fabric choice. But the style is fine.

I like the Carolina Herrera-type skirt, and think the design would suit any age, but as you note, those pleats at the neckline sort of conflict with the rather sleek line of the skirt--you know: fluffy/puffy on top of scallops?

Exactly my thoughts, Elona. I would want something sleeker for the bodice.

Thanks for the thoughts. I agree that age is only a number.

Next sale I will order this.

Can't wait to see your review on this. It is very nice but I agree change the bodice. Love the skirt.

For what it's worth, I'm still in my thirties and I think it would be perfectly appropriate for you. My mom is a little older than you, she still works full time, and I would not hesitate if she asked me to incorporate that skirt into a dress for her. Perhaps I would if she wanted a cupcake theme or something like that...but if that's not the case, I say go for it!

You'll be a beautiful 65 in this dress.

I think if you stitch down the pleats that would solve the fluffy look.
