I have an old pattern that I've always loved, but which I've um, grown out of. I'd like to grade it up, but I'm a little perplexed about how to do so without losing the lines. I suppose I really need to start a muslin and play with it, but, I thought I'd also ask. There's a copy of the pattern for sale on Etsy, here's what it looks like: http://www.etsy.com/listing/183636173/1978-mccalls-skirt-vest-pant-pattern?utm_source=google&utm_medium=product_listing_promoted&utm_campaign=supplies_low&gclid=CILG14qIr70CFS1eOgodLx0A5A

I've got my eye on doing this in a nice light linen I bought a while ago ....

I haven't done this but I would start by tracing off the pattern and cut off the sleeve and set it aside. Do my LBA. To replace the sleeve I need to close the wedge between the bust point and the sleeve place. If you slash from the bust point to the shoulder I think you will be able to close the wedge and replace the sleeve unchanged maybe. HTH. Then try the muslin.

Sounds do-able. Thanks! I just realized that there isn't an indicated bust point shown on the pattern tissue. I guess I'm going to have to triangulate for that based on the natural waist (which IS marked) and the CF line and shoulder. Hmmm. This is gonna be an interesting project, I guess!
