I just received this serger from my mother in law. I want to do the chainstitch and the manual says to insert the Workpiece guide plate. But I do not know what that is. Is it something extra to purchase or perhaps mine is missing. Is it stored on the machine somewhere?

I have this serger, wore it out in fact. To do decorative chain stitching you have to disengage the upper looper, this beige colored plate covers the opening. The stitch guide (you don't have to use this but you do need the plate) screws to the plate. Here's a link to the on-line manual and it shows a line drawing. No page numbers but it is about 2/3 of the way down. I tried to find mine to take a picture but it's been boxed up and I can't find it. That's driving me nuts! This is a workhorse of a serger, enjoy it.
