I have made both versions of this top and tunic. Love the tunic, but when I looked for the elastic guides when finishing the 2nd, they had vanished. When someone can, could you pleasemeasure both the long and short of the guides and reply here. I would so very much appreciate it.
TIA,
Cathy

Well, there have been at least 3 Vogue patterns with that number, so you may want to clarify. You do mean the Sandra Betzina top, right?

Vogue 1197 Sandra Betzina

The pattern companies do reuse the numbers after awhile. A picture is worth a thousand words, or at least a link to a picture.

The long elastic guide is 15 3/4" for size J. Take off 1/8" for each size down.
The short elastic guide is 8 3/4" for size J. Again, take off 1/8" for each size down.

Let me know if you need me to measure a specific size

Elastic guides make me a bit crazy. Why not print the measurements either in the instructions or on the pattern piece they are meant to be used with or both? They ALWAYS get lost in that sewing room black hole!

I seem to recall being made to cut them out as precisely as all the other pattern pieces when I took sewing in school and protesting as only a 14 year old can that it was stupid, since we just have to measure the length of the elastic.

Tourist,
I hope someone in the pattern world is listening...or reading this.
Now this makes sense!
Think I will start writing the dimensions for the guide on the appropriate pattern piece.
Thanks so much and successful sewing and dancing...love your gowns!

Things don't fall into a black hole in my sewing room, it's much more of a landfill. A black hole would at least make it seem neat.
