Does anyone make bias tape (either extra wide double fold, or quilt binding) in a heavier material? Like a twill? I don't need it badly enough to make it myself; I can make do with Wright's bias tape... but if it's out there, it would be nice!

I make my own because I do not like what is being sold. It is super easy to make and you are not limited to the weight or width that is available in ready made.

Have you checked etsy? You can buy a lot of handmade bias tape there, although I'll admit I haven't checked the weights/widths.

How much & what width do you need, and what are you using it for? Is it binding, or will it be applied to something like stripes? (I use a lot of bias tape for "guards" or stripes on period skirts, which is why I asked that odd question!

I personally make a lot of bias tape from corduroy and microsuede, although not in commercial quantities. LOL

ETA: This etsy merchant will make custom bias tape or quilt binding from your fabric, if you're interested!

What are you using the bias tape for - reinforcements, edging or ??? I found wide twill tape from one of the historical re-creation supply sites (I think it was mostly Civil War era patterns, etc.). It worked great as straps on aprons.

Try a search for 'carpet binding tape' Some of it is wider twill tape, some is polyester. It's a bit heavier duty than standard stuff, I think.

I have purchased from this Etsy merchant and been very happy with the quality of her bias tape. I did purchase all cotton tape from her, though.
