I'm wanting a baby cardigan, very simple (I plan to attack it and create a peplum effect) with a round neck, and to be made from knit fabric.
Along these lines, but with a round neck

Any suggestions?

You can turn any T shirt pattern into a cardigan by cutting it open in the front. Add a hem to foldover or ribbing to finish the neck and front edges.

Butterick 3782 has a simple, round neck cardigan pattern included (though they call it a "jacket"). It's drafted for moderate stretch knits.

Thanks ladies. I ended up earlier on today, changing a knit tunic pattern to be a button down cardi with tunic. Looks quite good on the muslin, should have the fashion fabric tomorrow with a bit of luck and can get cracking on it.

Looks quite good on the muslin,

Kudos to you for making a muslin! I made two or three muslins before I had the fit correct on our DGD's christening gown. Totally worth the trouble.

I think it turned out pretty sweet
. Ended up darting the back bodice, as it was a bit too big on her, but I've left it there so I can eventually let it out if need be.
