Have any of you attended a sew-along that has happened on a blog?

Or any recorded webinar-style ones that were in a series (meaning more than just a single webinar making up the project?)

I just got my first pattern (Bionic Gear Bag) up on Craftsy today... and I have already video'd some content for the first "episode" of my Sew Along that I'm planning on starting next week.

If you've ever taken part in one that you just *loved*... I would appreciate hearing what you liked about it.

Thanks so much!

I've never sewed along during any "official" sew-along, but I've used several to help me with patterns after the fact. The last one I used was the Closet Case Files Bombshell Swimsuit sew-along. I find it most helpful when the person posting them keeps all the posts together in sequential order, because sometimes there are other things that blogger posts about and it makes it harder to find all the relevant bits for us laggards :D

I took a Craftsy Class, "Sewing with Silk" which was like a sew-along. The class included the patten, and Linda Lee gave lessons as she (and I, the sewist) put the blouse together. It was a great class, and I got a gorgeous silk blouse out of the lessons!

I have way too many yards to count, and I will never use them up, but I will die trying!

Well...

I appreciate you both chiming in.

I got a hosting account to be able to embed videos (without going through YouTube) ... so I'm thinking of making a page on the blog with the content that was created during the Sew Along.

It would be fun, I would think, to use some of the more sophisticated Webinar type software that is available now that records the webinars and also records questions, etc. I know there is one out there that records the questions, and then the next webinar builds off of that one. So if you do the webinar more than once, you benefit from the questions of several groups.

Just thinkin' out loud. :)

That sounds like a really intriguing option, instead of having static content you'd have more dynamic content. Good luck with whatever approach you decide on!

I'd like to add to what dmh1 said - it is most helpful when there is a "first" page (and intro to what the sew along will be about) and it is updated with links (in order) to all the other posts in the series. And then each of those subsequent posts has a link back to #1. Because sometimes it's easy to stumble on middle page of a cool sew along via a search for something else, and it's nice to start at the beginning!
