Does anyone have any opinion about the best elastic for slacks? I have recently bought some which did not hold it's elasticity. Has anyone tried Banrol from Wawak? If so, did you like it?

I've always been pleased with Stretch-Rite elastics (the "sports" kind, so it can be stitched through), and it's available lots of places.

I have not tried the stuff from Wawak (unusual for me, I thought I had some of everything from them! ). My favorite wider widtch elastic is actually this from Home Sew Inc & Newark Dressmaker Supply. This is really smooth elastic that feels good and doesn't roll.

Thanks to both of you. I think you are suggesting the same type elastic. I am going to order some. Can't decide if I should go for the 50 yards or the 5 yards. I'm 74 years old....think I could ever get through 50 yds before I leave here??? Since I'm on a ready-to-wear fast, maybe so...hmmmm.

Sure, get the 50 yards. If you don't use it before you leave, it will give everyone something to talk about.

I'm 70 and have all kinds of bangles, beads, diamond studded zippers, big red zippers and other crazy stuff.

Some people collect goo gaws, I collect fabric and trim...

I've been using this elastic lately on some Kwik Sew skirts, pants and close fitting pants and leggings patterns. Lots of washing and drying and I've not had any problems. I'm using the 1 inch. It comes in black and white. The fabric has been fading out before the elastic has been giving out in my case.
