I have struggled with sometimes unwieldy, less than optimal ways to carry what I need with me to classes, etc. when I saw the Bionic Gear Bag I knew I had to make it and wanted to share it with everyone!

Pattern Review is where I typically start my day. Members are posting in different threads about the BGB pattern and making it.

In the name of time management (my greatest downfall), I'm hoping we can share our adventures in this endeavor here.

Happy sewing!

p.s. I need to learn to post pictures and links. This project is going to force me to grow in so many directions! In the meantime, everything you need to know, if you aren't already familiar with this bag, is at:

www.BionicGearBag.com

Sorry for the cheater route for now, but I have an appointment to get to.

Well I saw the Bionic Gear Bag and see how it could be enticing to make!
Can you believe that just yesterday I moseyed down to an Arts Supply store and found some perfect traveling containers? Then I wasted 2 more hours last night reorganizing my stuff to fit where I wanted it. They are all see through which I like. Still I am trying to figure out a use for the bag you are sewing- will see what happens but it is not something I need.
I do have an ITH bag I am dying to try out but it probably doesn't fit in this sew along theme.

I just posted a long reply to
your
other sew along thread about how to get photos into your post.
Hope it helps! Sandi
Edited to add:
This link goes to another thread on PR and describes how to insert Photos in PR Posts. If the link ends up getting deleted then I will just retype the process for inserting photos. I will leave the link in the hands of the Monitors for now.

I have the pattern. Can't start sewing it right away as I don't have all the supplies and I have a couple other projects going on but I will definitely be checking in everyday to see how it's going and what your bags look like!

Great bag Rip!

Hi, Everyone,

Just a heads up. Ripstitcher has been asked, and has agreed, to run her Bionic Bag Sew Along independently from PR.

Such a Sew Along is focused on a pattern that she has designed and is now selling and so it becomes a commercial vehicle to sell the pattern. That is prohibited by the Posting Guidelines. Ripstitcher understands and has been very agreeable in setting up her Sew Along through her blog. We are asking that you also abide by this decision.

What that also means is that any links posted here must be deactivated. Deepika is at the PR. Weekend and will be busy while away. CarolynGM is the only other moderator able to deactivate the links on this board and she has been PM'd.

What's important for everyone to know is that PR and Ripstitcher have been in touch with one another and are in agreement as to what is appropriate under the circumstances.

Thanks all.

EleanorSews

Eleanor...

Just FYI: I attempted to call Deepika on Friday (totally forgetting her event is *this* weekend).

I'll try her again on Monday or Tuesday... to see if she has an interest in selling this pattern.

Whoa Nellie!! RipStitcher is being very nice. But this request to take the sew along elsewhere is quite the double standard and I request that this be reconsidered.
I don't really want to pull the names out here - but go to the sew along board and you will see specific pattern after specific pattern sew along. How is this one different? So don't have the link to the purchase site - but we can't have a sew along? That is crazy.
I have no affiliation to this pattern or owner.

Having heard nothing else on this topic - and not understanding how this is different from any other sew-along ... I have a question for RipStitcher -

Re: the 9" zippers for the interior ZP's ~ will it matter on the ZP's if I use a zipper that I have to cut down? And if I cut it down - is the 9" length from the top of the cloth part of the tab, or the beginning of the zipper pull tab?

I have a giant bag of thrifted zippers, so I am using what I have on hand and some may need to be cut down.

Hi, Not Rip but just thought I'd chime in. :-) zipper length is from zipper stop to zipper stop, at least that's how it measured on my 9" store bought zips. Can't see how cutting them down would be a problem, just make the new stop 9" from the top tab stop and you should be good to go I'd think. I've started the bag and my 9" zips are fitting perfectly so I believe you'll be fine. Such a fun bag to make once you get in the rhythm. HTH

Yes, go have fun matching up I didn't want to use my favorite fabric for my first try, so this practice bag kind of looks a bit like, umm, shall we say, scrap bag vomit, but its such a cute bag that I think that only makes it look cooler. LOL
