So, I'm currently sewing up a few things for my honeymoon and the casual LBD I decided on just isn't going to work.

I cut and started sewing Nancy's Notions Santa Fe with minor alterations (I basically lengthened the bodice by 1/2" this time, but it wasn't enough) from this wickaway jersey knit, and things are not lookin' so hot. I could try to alter the pattern again, but I'm short on time, and would rather start from scratch using a pattern I'm more sure will work on my body.

I'm an hourglass with a fairly large and lowish bust for my frame (32F-G; I usually make a D in multi-cup patterns and it works well), so looking to avoid empire waists (since they don't typically work so well for me; was hoping I could easily make it work with the Santa Fe, but alas...)

Here's what I'm looking for in the pattern:

1. Versatile, easy to wear with cardigans
2. A couple of fun design details, but not too much in the way of ruching, nor cowl necks (I love cowl necks in general, but need a dress that will dry quickly after washing)
3. Sleeveless, or easily altered to be sleeveless
4. Has a defined waist.
5. Is meant for knits, and ideally uses 1 1/2 yards or less (that's all I have left; hopefully I can re-purpose some of the fabric from the skirt of the Santa Fe to give myself more yardage).

Looking for something that could be worn out for dinner, but also not too fancy for daytime wear, since I'm only taking 2 dresses (1 skirt, 2 pairs of pants and half a dozen shirts in one backpack!)

I really like the looks of the ExOfficio Go-To Tank Dress when I tried it on whilst on vacation last year, but didn't buy it and now it's not being made anymore.

Something on that order or close would be excellent, but open to really any suggestion!

Thanks!

I really like the boatneck dress in the middle. I've made it several times and it goes will with flip-flips and jean jacket or heels and cute jewelry.

Your inspiration dress reminds me of this vogue dress. It's OOP, but it looks like there are some available on ebay and etsy for reasonable prices, and it's on the vogue website, for a less than reasonable price.

Check out This Named Leini Dress I bought the pattern this weekend in Austin, but who knows when or if I'll use it. Send me a PM if you want me to mail it to you tomorrow. Sleeveless with a natural waist and flange tucks on the bodice, so a little detail. Unsure of yardage and can check later. OK, if you don't like it.

What about the downloadable Lady Skater dress. in a black knit. Add belt loops and put your time and energy into finding as assortment of interesting belts to wear with it - a thin metallic, zebra pattern, or a wider wrap around sash cut from the dress fabric.

Other possibilities: Vogue 8996 or Vogue 8921 Reviewed here - and it's black!

EDIT: oops - I overlooked the part about the limited yardage. At least one of those suggestions won't work...so what about something like the sleeveless tank view on McCalls 6744 with a few different belts and/or long scarves to tie around the waist?

Do you have Burda magazines? This one came out as a paper pattern too but I can't find it. It must be OOP already but I made it years ago and it's super versatile.

My favorite travel dress is OOP Mccall 5484. It looks really cute, and chic enough for dinner.
edited to add: it's the twist dress. I saw that there was also a vintage pattern with that number.
