Following on to my earlier thread on behalf of a friend shopping for a machine with gift money, I am very impressed by the F600 and would like to send her to a video. She will be most interested in its practical features--good feed over jeans intersections; buttonholes, etc.

I saw a mention of a video but lost track of it. I went online and there are too many! Anyone have any suggestions?

That bobbin thread path looks amazing--that much I learned from the company's own video :-) but that video was long on hokey inspirational cuts and a little short on actual demo. IMO.

Thanks, all!

P.S. I am also wondering if it can go into a big table instead of using its accompanying extension bed.

Today, someone just reviewed the Juki F600 on PR. It was a good one. You could copy it and send it to your friend.

I don't have links to videos. Sorry. Is there a reason you can't tell your friend to check out the various online videos for herself/himself?

Yes, a cabinet or table can be modified for the Juki. In fact, any table or cabinet can be modified to fit almost any sewing machine. They would need a carpenter to do it, though, unless they're handy that way.

I liked the flat bed sewing machines because they fit into a cabinet so easily. Personally, I can't stand sewing with a portable machine on a tabletop.....too much drag on the fabric.

JoAnn Fabrics sells a table that your friend could also use to set her Juki in. It's an ok table and people say they like them. Table. I have one I purchased on sale several years ago for less than half the price at JoAnn's. JoAnn's will probably put it on sale again for half price.

Ccris, thank you for the leads and info. I am glad to know the machine can go into a table. I use a portable currently and the "drag" that you spoke of is a real problem (esp. on a round DR table!) Thanks for the Joann link as well.

My friend is internet-literate, but as part of the gift I wanted to be ready to point her in a good direction, to save her some time and trouble. She's under a lot of pressure right now with some other matters.

Thanks all,
MP

There aren't any really wonderful Juki F600 videos (believe me, I've looked, since I'm strongly considering this machine for a future buy). This one is probably the best, but the voice over is super annoying: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x73TXgyiNBU

The written reviews here and elsewhere on the web are far more informative. There are also 2 videos on Youtube where someone compared the sound and stitch quality on her Juki F600 with her Viking and Brother machines, respectively. That was kind of interesting.

------
Janome 4120QDC (starting to like her more...)
Brother SE400 (sweet little machine)
Janome Mini (really belongs to my little girl)

Planning to buy a Juki F600 next year (must buy house first)!
Weaving dreams about a Brother Dreamweaver...

if u purchase a horn or similar table, they include an acrylic insert cut specifically to fit your machine. personally, i would stay away from the cheapie tables. i don't trust the materials used or the construction. especially if your machine is on the heavy side.

I would recommend that you log onto YouTube and just look up "Juki Exceed". There are videos from a shopping channel - HSN - for the F400 which is similar, as well as a lot of very short videos from owners. I wouldn't say any one video is remarkable, but altogether, you can put together a good feel for the machine. Good luck! I absolutely love mine.

Thanks, Anthony. I took a look. It cleared up some questions that I had myself about the machine. I appreciate the link.

One thing startled me though: I didn't think the buttonhole they showed in the video was very good! Granted the magnification would show every flaw, but there was density variation on one of the legs, and what looked like a little "jog" in that leg as well. I expected better and it made me wonder if some settings were off. I doubt that's the best it can do or I think I'd have heard more about it here.

Makes me want to go study the buttonholes on my Janome under magnification!

Hi Lottie,

Thanks for the link. This is the same one which I thought was hokey. I think you and I are saying the same thing in different words! It did do a good job showing the box feed, though, and the feed performance over fabric thickness differentials.

If you get one, please come back and report :-) Hopefully you'll become another fan here at PR!
