I am so pleased to tell you that this Saturday we will finally be making the new design of PatternReview live. Before going any further, I want to thank you all for your patience while I worked on the new design. After many design iterations, I finally settled on a design which I believe is modern and yet very respectful of our current members. Thanks also go to our testers who have been testing and providing valuable feedback in the last few months. Without your help and support this would not have been possible.

I want to emphasize the fact that this is a multi-step process. In this first step, we have kept the functionality primarily the same and focused more on the design so it is slightly easier to navigate and use.

This new design will help us move forward with some of the feature changes which I know are a necessity.

On Saturday night when we move the new design over, the site will be unavailable for a couple of hours starting 10 PM Eastern time.

Sunday morning when you visit the site and if you notice any bugs or issues, please report them to support at patternreview dot com. In the e-mail, include your operating system (MAC/PC/mobile phone etc) and your browser (Chrome/Firefox etc.) so we can troubleshoot more efficiently.

Thanks in advance for helping in this transition.

update Sunday, June 15th
Thanks to all of you for being so patient with the new site launch. I am thrilled to see such a positive feedback. And I am also thankful for such great constructive feedback. Thanks for reporting bugs too. Over the course of next few days, we'll be making a list of "known bugs" which we'll fix first before tackling anything else. I'll post this list on the first page of this topic, so you'll have an idea of what to expect. Thanks again for your support!

List of Known Bugs
1. Fixed Account menu is difficult to click on from iPad.
2. Fixed Featured Member is missing from the home page.
3. Fixed Like feature on Forums is not working.
4. Fixed- Rating a review is not working.
5. Fixed Some blue buttons are overlapping text.
6. SOLUTION IN PLACE Research background hues.

Quote:
Changing the whole site background to another color is an extremely time consuming process and it will throw us back to the drawing board. I did try a few things and it resulted in a very ugly site - background of the images changed and it was a huge mess. So here's my suggestion. I've selected two shades of soft white for the alternating rows on the forums which is where most of the text is. I know this is a big change but all I am asking is that you try it for a few days and see if it improves readability for you. This combined with a few other tweaks which I am going to do today, will make things easier ( I hope ) .

7. FIXED - it now appears instead of the links which say add to stash and add to wishlist The Pattern Stats that appear when Pattern Information is selected do not include whether "you want it" or "you own it".
8. Solution: Visited links are blue, active and non-visited links are in brown ) Active topics in the forum are not in bold
9. Fixed - Paypal payments are not working.
10. Fixed - Today's date is not in bold.
11. Fixed: The maximum width has been set to 1200. Forums are too wide.
12. Fixed Can't search store reviews by location (more info).
13. Fixed: Quote button is not working in Firefox.
14. FIXED Side Search Box says "Board" instead of "Forums"
15. Fixed Can't delete multiple messages in the message center.
16. Fixed Viewed x times missing on pattern reviews.
17. Fixed The text box chopping some of the words.
18. Photo Album header links don't work.
19. Fixed Menus don't work in IE 8
20. Fixed Notion search is not working.
21. Fixed Blog widget shows all the photos of reviews.
22. Fixed My Activity not showing message board posts properly.
23. Fixed Search by mile radius is not working in firefox.
24. Fixed Tips search is not sorted by newest date.
25. Fixed There are no drop downs for tabs Forums and Knowledgebase menu items in IE.

I'm very excited to see the new layout! I think improving the user friendliness of the site is a huge step forward to growing the community and maintaining lots of user input.

2014 resolution: keep track of sewn yardage!! I'm subtracting fabric given away from my yardage in. Yeah!
In: 98.5 yards
Sewn: 76 yards

I'll try anything once :)

Please excuse my typos...sometimes it is harder to go back and edit on mobile than it is worth!

Hooray! PR is my favorite community sewing site :)! While I like and use the other websites, PR goes beyond just "look what I made" and has a GOLDMINE of knowledge in every corner!

Hurray! I have been wondering for a long time why the site style and code hadn't been updated! Looking forward to the new design.
