This is for sewing clothing and cloth diapers with knits

Looking for a home sewing machine that's fast! One that will be a workhorse, one that works great with knits and does great rounding corners as I make cloth diapers (with elastic and velcro/snap closure so the wings are rounded)....
I have an industrial serger as well but I need a machine that does both straight stitch and zig zag. I was going with a juki industrial straight but have decided not to.
Now I'm back to square one.... no sewing machine (Sold mine to fund the industrial) and I sew 4-6 hours a day.
Looking at juki F600.... and which others? Thanks!!!

Honestly with the volume you are talking about (4-6 hours a day) no home machine is going to fill you needs. Also, if you are doing this as a business and use a home machine it will void the warranty on the machine automatically. I know you said you need zig-zag as well as straight stitching so I would recommend looking for a used Bernina 950. It's an industrial that does both straight and zig-zag stitching. They retail for around $3000 new, but can usually be found used on Craigslist for under $1000. Don't know where you are located, but right now there is one listed in IL for $850 and one in WI for $800. I seen a couple of these in action and they are nice machines for the money.

FYI - you might find it listed as a TacSew 950 instead of Bernina. If so, don't worry, it's the same machine.

I had bought a tac sew 20U and it came new with major problems... I didn't like it so I told them I didn't want it. I haven't found a bernina 950 local (in KY).... I had the chance to buy a juki 8500 computerized for $1800 but I tried it today and I kept doing the thread cutter accidentally, and then sometimes it wouldn't cut, and then it sewed really rough.
I just don't know what to do. Also looking at the janome 9500... I like the idea of having embroidery too so I could embroider diapers.....
I'm open to all advice. Thank you!! I'll look into the 950 more. I appreciate it.
I could go to $2000 if it was the right machine.

Janome 6300 looks solid and comes with many accessories for $999 online. Sounds like it could work for you. Its pretty fast at 1000spm on the straight stitch.

I agree.

Domestic,or household sewing machines have a small motor.Industrial sewing machines have a more powerful motor and can sew much faster and longer, the machines can run day and night 24/7.A household or domestic sewing machine will not last very long before it wears out when one wants to sew diapers every day as a business.

I would make sure the Bernina 950 and TacSew 950 sewing machines have enough space under the presser foot for bulky diapers.I would look on local Craigslist for a used industrial sewing machine that can sew straight and zigzag stitches and a good workhorse serger. I think both can be bought used for much less money than Bernina 950 and TacSew 950 sewing machines.

I actually can't go very fast with diapers with all the rounded corners so I wouldn't run it at but maybe 1000 spm or so...
I have a brand new juki 7614S industrial serger that I adore!! 😉
I need workhorse strong but no clutch motor and really I need to buy new online to finance it.
Thank you all so much! Will check out the janome too!!!

I probably actually only sew on the sewing machine 2-4 hrs a day. I understand it will wear my machine out so I was hoping for something semi-heavy duty though I know no home sewer is semi-industrial.

I was looking at the BL Jane and the equivalent Brother and Juki models that do 1500 spm. They are only ss though.
Still it may be worth it to invest in a type like that and then get a low cost or used machine to set up with a zz stitch. Sometimes it is efficient to set up single use machines and go between then.
If you don't need adjustable pressure on the presser foot the BL-9 is a $100 workhorse- all metal insides and it does zz.
