VQF starts with Champagne/Chocolate preview tomorrow 7:30-9:30 PM, followed by the actual festival on Friday and Saturday 9 AM to 6 PM, Sunday 9 AM to 3 PM. I am working into the evening tomorrow and all day Friday, so I probably won't get to see anything before the weekend.

I've signed up for one of the beginner-intermediate full day classes on Saturday. The majority of the classes will be held at the Vermont Technical College campus in Williston, but the quilt exhibits and everything else will all be at the fairgrounds, about 5 miles away. I hope to get to the main pavilion after class, perhaps around 4 PM? to see the exhibits and to check out the vendors. That's not much time, though.

We have a lot of company coming on Saturday, so I don't know if I can go on Sunday, much as I'd like to. Registration includes (ie mandatory non-refundable payment for) a 3-day pass to the pavilion, so I would like to get there as much as I can. Maybe some of my guests will be interested in going (unlikely)...

Anyone else going? Do you want to try to meet there?

I will be there! I am taking full day classes on Fri and Sat. My DH is taking me up as a sort of vacation. We are staying at a B&B in Jericho. I will leave today at noon and be up there by dinner time.

I always wear my PR button so if by chance we pass say hello!!
I can't wait to see if the classes at VTC are more comfortable than the former college. Last time I went I nearly died from the heat. It was 99 outside and the class involved lots of ironing between steps - with steam! Bad day......

I took a class last year at SMC during the show and parking was a PIA!!! I did not have a working trolley for my machine at the time so I had to haul it from the parking lot near the Gymnasium to a building a good distance away, plus entry into the building was at one end and the class at the other end but on the 3rd floor. I then had to repeat that at the end of the class. Walking back to my car was in the pouring rain just to add insult to injury. I think they got a lot of complaints because there was no available parking near classrooms due to the construction. Sheesh! I am not taking classes this year but volunteering as a quilt monitor so I can get priority registration onto a class with Deb Tucker. aka Studio 180 Designs.

It was so much better this year since it wasn't at SMC. The VTC venue had great classrooms. Parking was OK. Attendance seemed to be down overall when I was there Friday and Saturday, but maybe I just missed the rush time.

I had 2 great classes. One was with Lorraine Torrence (using fabric to create fabric for unique garmnets) and the other with Jackie Kunkel (Judy Niemeyer's Stepping Stones.)

Now I'm home and ready for bed! It's a long drive from SE Mass.

I think attendance was down because the venue changed and there was no housing available, so visitors had to make hotel reservations, whereas in the past many people were able to be housed on the SMC campus.

The road from the EXPO to VTC is not that great and it is congested at rush hours. The attendance was surely down - I had a class with Susan Cleveland on Friday all day but was out shopping at the lunch break as well as after class a bit, and then "did" the show all day Friday. The parking was great, but I was not happy to see the attendance down as much as it seemed to be on both of the major days.

My class was at the EXPO itself, which is what I wanted to be sure I got.

Sewed all day on a Janome 8900, a really sweet machine!:)

Class was terrific, and the show was fun as usual. Allotted funds spent and fun had! :)

The quilts were stunning this year!!! Nice were given Exceptional Merit awards which are the highest awards given. They were perfect in every way consider by the judges as flawless. Perfect stitches, both front and back, precise construction and design, hangs flat and some other criteria.

I volunteered as quilt monitor, one of those ladies who wears white gloves and helps attendees with questions. There were some fun quilts I loved to share but best of all I got to spend time with some incredible quilts.
