Row by Row Shop Hop

This hop started July 1st and includes 1200 or so shops in 35 states. I just visited my LQS and got the pattern for a pinwheel row. Some of the other shops in Washington have houses, sailboats and cars.

This is a contest and you visit 8 shops, put together all the patterns and show your finished quilt to your home shop for a chance to win....someone in Texas turned in a quilt on July 2!!

Apparently, all the patterns/kits will be available in October.

If you don't want to do the contest, how about trading patterns? I'd be willing to copy the instructions I have (2 pages letter size paper) and mail off to whomever wants it. I'm going to try to get to at least three or four other shops this summer...I have to check the bus routes!!

Anyone want to play???

Looks like several of the shops I will be visiting in August as part of the Minnesota Quilt Shop Hop are participating in this -- I will have to do some more reading on the website to see what it's all about. Never heard of it before.

Unfortunately the only Canadian shops participating are in Ontario.

Check the Facebook page for Minnesota. The shops in Washington are all posting pictures of their blocks. It really looks like fun. I'd love to get the pattern from one of ours...it's a row of Victorian houses. I love house quilts and may try to copy it.

I did get a set of fat quarters from the Washington shop hop and my LQS has more....maybe I'll try to combine the patterns and use the Washington fabrics.

Sadly, I did not get to participate in this. It would have been fun, but I have spent so much money in the last month, that I did not even leave home.

Shops are asking for customers not to copy their patterns as they will be able to sell them in Oct. All part of the copyright laws. Just thought I would share

OK...I posted this after I had visited a shop and spoke with the owner. She said that she didn't care...only that it wouldn't be able to be used in the contest. I wonder how much they will be charging for them....some stores have kits made up also.

Good to know! I guess it is up to the individual shops. I say if they say okay then go for it, just ask first. Our 2 LQSs said no. I hope I did not offend you as that was not my intent!
