My sewing machine spool cap broke. Is there anything I can use to hold the spool in place on my machine until I can replace it. I need to use the machine asap. Thanks!!

Do you have any craft foam on hand, like 'Foamies' from Joann's? You could try cutting a circle from the thicker kind, piercing a hole in the center and pushing that over the spool pin. I've done this for my vertical second spool pin, but I'm not sure how well it would work on a horizontal pin. You'd need to cut a nice clean-edged circle so the thread wouldn't catch on it.

I tried a small hair elastic [not the ones with metal on them and not a scrunchie].
I wrapped it 3 times around the horizontal spool.
With that, I could fill a bobbin without any problems and I could sew, too.

Is it possible you have a bottom "cap" thingy, too, at the base of the spool pin? (My Viking does.) If so, you should be able to pop that off and use it on top.

(I just did a Google search, though, and didn't see one in dozens and dozens of images, so perhaps this is not a common feature?)

Cut and then smooth with an emery board a piece of a plastic milk jug or quilting template material.

You may also be okay with putting the spool in a mug and set it next to the SM....test first before putting the pedal to the metal.
