| | What Debbo likes about this machine This machine is very easy to set up and get running. It runs smoothly and fast enough for a compact. It's pretty quiet and pleasant to use.
The stitch quality is very nice; it has 66 stitches. The decorative stitches are pretty. It is very light at 12 pounds - which is what I wanted in order to take it to classes. I can fit a walking foot on it easily. The little extension table is easy to take on and off. The feed dogs lower and raise by a lever on the back. It comes with a number of feet. You can adjust the length and width of the stitch, although you are limited to about five steps. It has a carrying handle. I wound a couple of bobbins, which worked just fine. It doesn't need the cord to run - it has a stop/start button. It also has all of the normal features you would hope for, except for adjustable pressure foot.
I practiced machine quilting with this machine and tried out almost all of the stitches. It sews very nicely. It's a great weight. It seems pretty sturdy. I have been really excited about this machine. However... What Debbo does not like about this machine My big disappointment is that my darning foot doesn't seem to fit. It is too tall. Therefore, I can't use the machine for one of my main purposes for buying it - to take to class since I'm learning to machine quilt. I tried a low shank foot on it - two of them, in fact, and neither fit. I have a call in to sewinginusa, which is where I bought it, and I emailed White. Surely this can't be a manufacturing flaw! At any rate, I'll let you know what I find out.nyone | *LOGIN to add a comment to this review *Only registered members can post comments to the reviews. | Reader Comments | | Betakin | 2/24/08 | This is such a cute little machine. I hope you will do an update on the outcome of what happens concerning the darning foot.
Thank you for your review. | | * * * | | got2bjennyg | 2/24/08 | Nice reveiw. I bet you'll find a darning foot that your machine 'likes'. There are som many different ones out thier, that one is bound to be 'just right' for your machine. | | * * * | | mufffet | 2/24/08 | Thanks for this review - sounds like a good machine at a good size for classes. I hope htat darning foot works out - is this one that came with the machine? | | * * * | | ButtonFaith | 2/24/08 | Thanks for writing the review, Deb! It is such a cute machine and I didn't realize that it could run without the cord. Update with info about the foot! | | * * * | | Radar | 2/25/08 | I've been waiting to here about this machine. Thank you for the review, my girlfriend has the Baby Lock Xscape, very similiar and I thought hers did an excellent job for such a lightweight machine. I was especially impressed with the stitches on it. | | * * * | | Debbo | 2/25/08 | Ok, I talked to my sewing machine guy and bought another low shank foot. This one works but only after I switched to a large screw rather than the one I got with the machine. And, there isn't as much space between the darning foot and the bed of the machine as there is with my janome so it is harder to free motion. However, it does work; it's just not as easy to move the fabric as it is with my other machine. | | * * * | | Debbo | 3/16/08 | Just to update you, I ordered the darning foot from Viking, and it fits just right!! So, I'm very happy with this machine so far. I have also ordered a walking foot as I've decided to use the manufacturers feet rather than generic low shank for the quilting features. I should probably order a quarter inch foot as well. | | * * * |
