What Sewing Diva Susan likes about this machine
OK, I had someone ask if I would rate one of my multi-needle embroidery machines, I now have 3 of them. I bought this one because it was used as a demo in a show, and I got the entire package with cap driver, stand and set of extra hoops and gold standard for this price. Totally unheard of! This machine is great because unlike the 12 needle machine I have this one does not require that I link up to a computer to use it. It is a 6 needle machine, very much like my Brother 6 needle, and the quality of embroidery this machine does if outstanding. This machine as well at the Brother are they only multi needle machines to offer auto threading, a real time saver. It uses Babylock/Brother cards, a flash drive and it can link to my computer if I like. It has a color screen and 60 built in designs including Nancy Zieman designs and 14 different built in alphabets. It reads 4 different design formats DST, PES, PEC, PHC. Upgrades are made easy though the UPB port by hooking it up to your computer. And it has on screen editing, and operation guide as well as help messages. It also has a nice range of hoop sizes the largest being 12X8. And it embroiders to a max of 1000 stitches per minute.

This machine is the perfect merge between home embroidery and a commercial machine. It weighs only 82 pounds so it can be taken to crafts shows and what have you, the larger commercial machines weigh well over 200 pounds. I don't do craft fairs, but I do know several people who do, and they take their machine, it really draws a crowd of lookers I am told. This machine is just so easy to use, and I have done training commercial machines in the past and they are not nearly as easy to use.

Oh I forgot to mention that it has a built in memory, and it does designs with up to 500,000 stitches, and up to 500 color changes, now that is a lot of color changes! I find that most items I embroidery on this will use maybe 12 color changes so I do have to change the threads, but sometimes I use 25-30 color changes. But with the automatic threading it is a breeze to change threads. I use primarily polyester thread, it has such wonderful qualities. It is stronger and has fewer breaks, it's color fast and the variety of color just beautiful. The shop I work at carries Isacord, Robison Anton and Floriani. Floriani is my favorite, the finish looks like rayon, but it is a polyester thread, it comes in 300 colors, yes I have them all, and about 20 color twist colors, and 20 or so varigated colors. I really like the color twist it is great when doing flowers and foilage.

I have only owned this machine for 2 months, but I have trained on one and used one for a couple years now.

What Sewing Diva Susan does not like about this machine
The only thing I would like to see is maybe if they went to a 12 needle machine with all the same great features. I have been told that Babylock and Brother are going to be offering a machine with more needles in the future. Not sure if it will be like this machine, or just a commercial machine from that division of Brother. But over all this is a great machine.

granny geek3/26/08wow...you got a good price on that machine. I have been thinking about it for some time but decided on the Ellegante sewing machine instead which was in the same price range...$7999. Ironically, I use the Ellagante almost exclusively for embroidery and my Ellagio for most of my straight sewing. Congradulations on your great purchase!

Patzee3/26/08Interesting review, thanks! May I ask what types of projects you are embroidering?

Sewing Diva Susan3/26/08You name it I am making it! I have done a lot of quilt blocks, shirts for the ladies at my bible study. Lots of goodies for my grand kids. Just a little bit of everything. Bowling shirts for some friends, and some wonderful wall hangings. But I have not done one hat with that hat hoop! I am a big fan of Embroidery Library, so I buy lots of designs from them. I have the machine going most of the day when I am at home. My daughter says if you don't keep moving mom will hoop you! Let's see I just might!

mollyshark3/28/08I also have this machine. Had a Bernina 200 used for embroidery/sewing, but changing threads ever color made me insane. I see no point in buying (sorry Granny) a 1 thread, much slower machine for the same price as you can get a semi-professional model that spools 6 at once and runs much, much faster. Beautiful machine. Thanks for the review.

trimom4/1/08What a great price on the package. My friend has a Brother PR600II and love it. I presume it is a "brother" to your "baby." Do you use pre-wound bobbins or the metal ones? Enjoy your new "baby!"

helen sefsik4/21/08I am shopping for a "embroidery only" machine and have decided to narrow my search between the Janome and the Babylock. Your review is very helpful. I also use Isacord thread in my Husqvarna SE and find it superior to most others I have used. I will try the Floriani, it sounds lovely. Thanks for a great review. H.
