| | What Queen of lace likes about this machine I thought I love it. I do like that I can make a border without hooping, and I have tons of purchases attachement. I use it weekly but just on fine fabrics and cottons. Nothing heavy at all. It's a lucky day when I get a good embroidery design thought. What Queen of lace does not like about this machine There are tons of things I do not like. First of all no dealer around here anymore. The last one promised tons of stuff when you purchases and never delivered. She is no longer in business and I have to drive 1 hr. to get to another dealer. I have had this machine in repair while it still was under warranty, and 3 times since. Now it's going again. I was told it was going to cost me atleast 400.00 plus s/h. I have had it with Janome. They give you a hard time on the phone. They do not stand behind their machines and top dollar to fix. My brand new serger isn't back from the plant either. I just purchased it at Christmas and something went on it too. Lucky for me it's under warranty, but what in the world are they making. This was my 4th Janome machine. I didn't change brands because I was afraid it would be too difficult to learn a new machine. Difficult learning is no where as expensive to fix Janome's machine. I'm looking into Pfaff, I hear they are great.
I originally bought this machine because it was on sale. I was not in the market for an embroidery machine as I had a cheap brother one. But, I took the bite and went for the sale. I'm very upset with Janome and I know when I call them it will be...bring it to the dealer and they will send it to us. I have to drive over an hour to get there, again.
Think twice before you buy this machine!!! The sergers are no different | *LOGIN to add a comment to this review *Only registered members can post comments to the reviews. Membership is free. if you are not a member, please Sign-up now! |

| Reader Comments | | Sewing Diva Susan | 3/26/08 | I am sorry you don't like your machine. It looks like your main problem is you do not have a dealer to service your machine, and that can be difficult. That is why when buying a machine it is inportant to have a good dealership network. I am assuming at the price you paid you bought this machine used. The big question is did the former owner keep up on servicing this machine. Janome is a machine that is very user friendly and a the lowest rate of repairs in the industry. But really it looks like you just got someone elses problem. I have taught on these machine and own one myself and have never had a problem with it. But it is just like cars there is always one out there that is a problem. I am just sorry you got it. I use my brother 4000d to do borders and I have to use a hoop with it. So I am a little unclear about that. Sorry you are having problems. | | * * * | | linda 75142 | 3/27/08 | Sorry you are having problems. I love mine and I love my dealer. | | * * * | | Sewwolf | 3/27/08 | I love mine also. Dealer can be everything. What is wrong with it that cost $400? Also good maintence on these machines is a must. There insides are pretty delicate. And are very picky about being cleaned. This machine will handle heavy fabrics. Mine sews through denim like butter. Hopefully you will get your problems resolved. A lot of embroidery problems are user error by not using the right stabilizer etc, needles etc. If you only paid $1400 you coudn't have brought it new. That machine new goes for $4500. | | * * * | | sewfan | 3/27/08 | I, too, have this machine and love it. I'm so sorry you have had so many issues with your machine. I can only echo everyone else's comments that it may have had problems before you purchased it. Hope you can work out these issues. | | * * * | | Celeste | 3/28/08 | Buy a vintage Bernina 1030, 1130 or 1230 on ebay. I did this a month ago and after sewing for 40-some years now, I have found my LOVE!!! A Bernina 1130!! How sweeet! | | * * * | | mary fran | 3/29/08 | I have had this machine for 5 years it has never given me any trouble at all. It will sew any fabric very well. Like has been said, you need to keep the bobbin area clean and if you have any problem always check the threading.
I love this machine . Two of my sisters have it as well and they have not had any problems at all either. I am sorry you have had trouble, but with this machine, that is rare. Be sure and read your books , they will maybe give you some clues , it could be user error. there is a lot to learn with such a fantastic machine ,but well worth the time you invest. Janome is a wonderful company as well, they have always answered every question I have had. They make very good machines. I have heard that they make many of the other brands also. Some that others speak so highly of. | | * * * | | johnr55 | 3/30/08 | The problem is not that you don't have a closer dealer--my Bernina dealer is over an hour away for me also. If the machine didn't keep breaking it wouldn't matter. I do hope that you will look at one of the top three--Pfaff, Viking and Bernina. For what you paid you deserve better, and good luck! | | * * * | | mary begue | 4/1/08 | thanks | | * * * |
