| | What ceyana12 likes about this machine It's a great baby-gate stop. Keeps the baby-gate open really well. What ceyana12 does not like about this machine I purchased this machine after months of research. I have been very unhappy with it's quality. My machine has been back to sears for repair 3 times in the last 4 months. My tension mount broke shortly after the 1 year warranty expired. Sears convinced me to buy the 5 year extended warranty. I did. When I go the machine back, the presser foot assembly fell apart while I was sewing. I had sewn for about 20 minutes. I took it back to Sears for repair. I got the machine back and sewed for 5 minutes and the bobbin case popped out. I put it back and it popped out harder.
Sears of course will do nothing to address my machine issues, since they are not functional/mechanical repairs. The extended warranty is covering my machine's repairs. I can never sew on it, but it does enjoy it's trips back and forth to the repair shop. Do not buy this machine. | *LOGIN to add a comment to this review *Only registered members can post comments to the reviews. Membership is free. if you are not a member, please Sign-up now! |

| Reader Comments | | mufffet | 5/8/08 | I am sorry to hear this. Many of us have this machine and like it. You have had a bad exoperience and that is good to know as well as the good ones. I do hope that either you get it fixed and it works well for you for years, or you get something you really like. | | * * * | | bestgrammy | 5/9/08 | Is the bobbin case popping out or is the bobbin? | | * * * | | cathy45 | 5/9/08 | Oh how terrible! I just hate the Sears service center in our area--they are awful to deal with. We had a TV that was spending more time w/ them than us until I threatened to sit in their showroom all weekend long and tell all their customers about their products/service--then I got a full refund. | | * * * | | Betakin | 5/9/08 | LOL! Cathy, way to go. Sears has a local Service Dept. in my town and I have only needed them a few times in the past but I have no complaints. I took a machine in for a friend once and after the repair that was done in a timely manner, the tech pulled me aside before giving me the machine to take home and showed me what caused the problem with her machine and how it was repaired.
Ceyana, I'm sorry that your 19233 turned out to be a lemon because I know this machine is liked by many and is similar to my Kenmore which has been a peach of a machine. Since you have had to have repairs so many times, I think it gives a clue that something is sour with this particular machine. I think I would try and get a replacement 19233 even if I had to go to the same threat as cathy45 did..it worked for her. | | * * * | | yardstick | 5/9/08 | 5/09/08
this machine is made by janome, I think. In the back of your manual there is a phone number and an e-mail address. I had problems with my machine, it was stuck on bobbin re-wind.
She said take it back to the store, They gave me a new machine and a she sent me a cutting mat for having problems with my machine.
I don't know if you just got a bad machine, it happens or the repair person has no idea what they are doing.
I would demand a new machine. | | * * * | | Cfrosty | 5/9/08 | Well, I took mine in on the 17th of April, was to be fixed 4/29. They called, part ordered, was to be ready 12th of May. They called today and told my DH, won't be ready til 22nd of May, had to order another part. I tried to call them but no answer so don't know what this second part is. I'm ready to email both Janome and Sears. My machine is 13 mths old and have only used it a dozen times if that. Still out on whether it's worth the money. | | * * * | | bestgrammy | 5/10/08 | How much was the 5 year extended warranty...the info at the web-site only has a 2 yr and 3 yr, so a 5 year is intriguing. It was mentioned that the extended warranty is covering the repairs...but why are the repairs not functional/mechanical repairs and how does that follow that Sears will not address the machine issues...this would be good to know. | | * * * | | Celeste | 5/10/08 | That's the troubling thing with the Sears machines--service. Service after the sale means so much. If you don't resolve your issues and need another machine I would look on ebay for a used one. Babylocks and Janomes are pretty solid clad for newer ones and if all you want is basic stitches I would do my research on ebay--there are some very reputable sewing machine dealers on there that deal in used machines that are very solid and dependable. | | * * * | | Cfrosty | 5/10/08 | Forgot to mention I purchased the 3 year protection agreement. If the machine is still not repaired after three returns, they will give me a new machine. | | * * * | | smockeymama | 5/10/08 | The Sears Service Ctr can be very difficult to deal with. They usually have a clerical person with a computer screen & no authority to do anything. When I was having warranty issues with my top-of-the-line Kenmore fridge, I talked until I was blue in the face to every Service Ctr supervisor I could find on the phone, all to no avail. The only way I got any satisfaction was to meet w/the store manager in person & got his word that he would call the Regional Service Center Manager, which he did, and they made an exception & handled my issue but they should be doing it in the first place for everyone instead of only helping the customers who are persistent enough to make a fuss. I would find out when the store MANAGER will be in (not one of the assistant mgrs), and I would take him copies of all your service receipts. Also, on large appliances the extended warranty includes a "lemon" policy which says that if your appliance has to have a certain number of repairs w/in a certain time, they will replace it with a new one--I would ask the Store Mgr about that too. Someone there does have the authority to make you happy, so you just need to find that person. | | * * * |
