What Shuggypie likes about this machine
I love this machine. It has made learning to sew much easier, and enjoyable. I really like the start/stop button. I never use the pedal. There is also a speed control feature, which I also use all of the time. It helps me keep my stitches even and straight. The throat plate actually has US and metric. The auto-lock stitch button, and reverse stitch button, are easy to use, and located in a great spot on the machine. I love the needle up/down button, it's a great feature. The machine is easy to thread, and the needle threader is a breeze to use, and actually works. The auto tension is a godsend! There is nothing worse than having to fiddle with the tension when you're learning to sew. Of course, I haven't used many of the decorative stitches, but the ones I have used came out very pretty. The machine also came wth a VCR tape which I watched before setting the machine up, and after that I was using it with no problems! I would definitely recommend this machine. It is excellent!

What Shuggypie does not like about this machine
The lighting from the light bulb- it's not bright at all.

mufffet5/12/08I love that you have had this machine 18 months. That is sooo helpful because you have used it and know it well. Sounds like another good Kenmore! Thanks for a good review with a wrapup of features giving us an idea what the machine can do and how well! I like my Kenmore 19233 very much and enjoy using the deco stitches only occasionally as well!

catsmeow5/12/08Very nice review, Shuggypie! I have this machine, too, and I love all the same stuff about it that you do. I have also started sewing my own clothes -- especially summer dresses because I live in a hot southern state where "summer" can last 9-10 months out of the year. The styles from the past few years have been either too revealing, or "frumpy". This machine is absolutely wonderful for sewing clothing, and for adding one's own flouish with the many decorative stitches. Thank you for your review!

julieanne5/14/08I've had this machine 3 years to the day. Bought on ebay (my first ebay purchase) for $305.00 and have never regretted it. I still lust after a TOL janome or viking, but I can honestly say that this machine never lets me down or holds me back. I love it. It handles very well. Stitches beautifully. It is never fussy. I plan to write reveiws of my "little fleet" of machines after my daughter's wedding in June. Be looking for it, because you will see another positive reveiw on this machine. Glad it is making sewing enjoyable. That is the real test. When I think back on the years that I did less sewing, the machine that I had to work with at the time was always a key issue!
