What wordgirl26 likes about this machine
Hi All! I'm new here, and I so appreciate the sewing machine reviews! After 20 yrs my 2 machines are dying, (Brother and Singer) and after 2 weeks of research, I'm in the process of buying this machine. FYI! I've found out that the 2040 is basically the same machine as the 7061, the 3022, and now the 2007. Knowing that helped me to find more info online about it. Thanks to all for the input!

What wordgirl26 does not like about this machine
I'll let you know, but if the reviews are any indication and if it passes the buttonhole test, it'll work out great!

mufffet5/16/08When you get your machine and use it awhile, please then edit this and make it a real review! We'd love to know how you like it, what features you particularly like and don't like, and what you think it does best. Welcome to PR! Have fun sewing. :)

lucybear5/16/08This is "NOT"the same machine as the 7061.the 7061 is a great machine.I bought it,loved, but my daugher needed it.I have 2 friends who also have the 7061,they love them. read my review on the 2040-it sucks!don't know where you are getting your info, but if you are trying to save a few bucks, you will lose in the end.

dbsewer5/16/08Janome makes some great machines but for the price I'm not sure what you'll get in terms of quality. Take a look at some of the other Janomes in person before you invest even a small amount of money into this machine, buy from a reputable dealer and make sure you can take it back if it doesn't work out.

Celeste5/16/08Yes, I'm afraid Janome is trying too hard to be "everything" to "everybody" and in such a hurry to label and relabel machines at a dizzying pace! They are trying too hard to pump out machines at a lower price end and you still need to spend at least $350-400 for a pretty decent machine UNLESS you pick up a find on ebay for very good used nice Janome or Babylock. I got a wonderful older Bernina but it was even $950 on ebay!! But what a gem and worth far more than the same amount would buy in a brand new machine by far!!! The Heart Truth machine by Janome is pretty nice, it's around $399.00 but I have seen it and it does seem to be a nice machine for the price range.

mufffet5/17/08There is a good review of this machine here on PR, and I think people's opinions might be very subjective depending on what sort of machine they had used in the past, and what they have seen of all the newer plastic machines in the last decades. This particular model looks like it is a usual low-end Janome, and one could get one that wokrs very well, or one that doesn't, much like every other sewing machine and appliance. I am in hopes that this machine will be terrific for wordgirl26! I have been happily surprised in a low end machine myself, and so might she!

bestgrammy5/17/08Please, once you have tried your sm we'd love to read all the details.

bestgrammy5/17/08If a $ amount is an indication of quality, the 2040 is listed by a revered on-line dealer as $699 originally. Re-doing a sm with a new name/# and color is not unique to Janome.

bestgrammy5/17/08lucybear...It would be interesting to read an update in your review on your experiences with resolving your dissatisfaction with your 2040 with the seller...was an exchange/refund requested?
