| | What hshaw likes about this machine That I kept my receipt in case it needed to be returned. It offered great features, unfortunately ether I purchased a lemon or Brother needs to have a recall on this item. However I am not the kind who gives second chances when it comes to machines, so unless some one else rates this model, we may never know it's true quality. I would like to add that the CE4000 has a lot of bad reviews on walmarts website, all complaining of the same problems I had with the 5000 What hshaw does not like about this machine When someone buys a sewing machine they deserve to be able to sit down and enjoy working on a project with out having to try to figure out why the machine keeps jamming, or why the feed dog will not drop or feed. I will never buy another Brother again. | *LOGIN to add a comment to this review *Only registered members can post comments to the reviews. | Reader Comments | | catsmeow | 6/13/08 | How disappointing for you! I'm so sorry. My SMG refuses to fix these inexpensive models of machines. He says they are meant to be thrown away. For less than $150 you might want to consider a good vintage mechanical machine until you can afford to get a modern machine with the bells and whistles. Most (maybe not all) machines under $300 can be a problem. There are ususally very mixed reviews written about them. I hope this machine has not ruined your desire to sew. | | * * * | | sewinfool | 8/1/08 | I've had several Brother machines without problems. I currently have a 4000D and just completed an upholstery project with it. NO PROBLEMS. I think that you must have gotten a problem machine.. I haven't had any issues like that. I don't tend to buy machines at walmart though. | | * * * | | mis_priss | 8/12/08 | I bought one this weekend, and have had no problems with it so far. I had no problem sewing with it of figuring out how to use it. It is my first computerized machine. so I had fun playing with the buttons. I made two toddler size dresses a hat and a purse, and finished another Adult size dress. | | * * * | | GinevraV | 8/24/08 | This model must be a lemon, it's also been panned on Overstock.com. | | * * * |
