| | What Imaan likes about this machine It was cheap...in retrospect, not the best reason to buy a machine. But I come from a non-sewing family, and did not know if I would like sewing, though I had always wanted to do it. And so an entry level machine seemed the way to go. And just as well, it sat there for 2 years before I dared take it out of its box!
It is easy to operate, and despite the fact that it is not meant to handle multiple layers, it has without too many problems.
It was not expensive,so while I learn to sew, I am not paralysed by fear of breaking it. What Imaan does not like about this machine No accessory feet, not even zipper foot! only the buttonhole foot.
Very basic, with mainly only straight and zig zag stitches
No stitch width
Not meant to deal with multiple layers of fabric
3 step buttonhole
No cover provided
Had I known what I do now, especially given that I am really enjoying sewing, though I suck at it, so far...I would have chosen better. It seems wrong to dump it at present for a better model. | *LOGIN to add a comment to this review *Only registered members can post comments to the reviews. No stitch width, no accessory feet. Get yourself a decent machine, take lessons and fall in love with sewing. You won't break a more pricey machine, believe me. They are meant to be used. | | * * * | | Mufffet | 7/3/08 | Another idea - this machine is easy to buy feet for, and you could buy a couple and get familiar with them. No problem sewing with an inexpensive machine. I see no reason to upgrade until you really need the features you will be paying much more for. A simple mechanical machine lasts for years and really can do almost everything you ever need to do! If it has problems - that's different, but these Janomes sew very very well. I have a bottom line Kenmore made by Janome that is a trooper! And, if you do upgrade, keep this one as a backup - that's something we all find we need! :) | | * * * |
