What BanffSewer likes about this machine
I was looking for a machine to replace my old all steel singer. Its moter was finally giving up on its third generation of sewers.

I was planning on buying used, but after trying this machine in the the store, I couldn't go back to those money saving thoughts.

I sew mainly outdoor gear, and alterations and repairs on my family's clothing. I am not an avid sewer, so it took me a few months to feel like I'd really tested this machine out.

So far it's made smooth, even stitches on anything I've thrown at it. I've tried multiple levels of courdra (pack cloth), light weight (2mm) neoprene as well as hemming jeans.

I really like the IDT as I'm lazy about pinning, and most machines I tried skiped stitches right at the critical points were seams come together.

After I figured out the stitch selection system I've found it easy to change between different stitch styles (really I just use straight and different widths of zig-zag).

What BanffSewer does not like about this machine
Useage is not as intuative and simple as I would like. I don't know if this is a fault of the machine, or just that I am used to my old Singer, and this is just different.

I've had to disengage the IDT to go around really tight corners, or fit into tight spaces. This isn't really a problem, as the IDT is easy to dis- and reengage.

BanffSewer7/21/08The IDT makes going over multiple layers really smooth, with no skipped stitches, as others have mentioned. I haven't sewn jeans, but 9 layers of heavy fabric along a hem was no problem at all.
