| | What Hattie Kate likes about this machine It has lots of bells and whistles. Lots of decorative stitches. Not too heavy to take to workshops, etc. pretty, reasonable price, or so I thought. What Hattie Kate does not like about this machine It jammed often, and broke needles, and screwed up the bobbin case. I spent more time taking it apart to straighten the bobbin case than sewing. It was a real pain. I had it to the Viking dealer, and their repairman several times for repairs under warranty, but finally they started to charge for replacing the bobbin case. Meanwhile, I bought a wonderful 19-year-old used Bernina 1230 at quilt camp for $500 and put the C20 away for a year or so until I needed it for backup (other two machines at repair shops for age related repairs). Then the C20 didn't work again, and since it still had a couple of months on the warranty, I took it back to the dealer, from which they sent it to headquarters for repairs which are guaranteed for 90 days, and it is working okay. I sew for home decorating, clothes, and lots of quilting, piecing and machine quilting. It is okay, but I've learned to get a substantial used machine than a new one with too many bells and whistles for the price. | *LOGIN to add a comment to this review *Only registered members can post comments to the reviews. | Reader Comments | | Mufffet | 7/2/09 | I am glad you now have two working machines. :) I hope the C20 keeps working for you because many of the features are nice to have! | | * * * | | dbsewer | 7/3/09 | It's too bad you had such a miserable experience with this machine. It's possible you got a lemon and the dealer should have swapped it out for you. | | * * * | | naerby | 7/3/09 | I had a real lemon viking. It took forever to convince them and they finally had to give me a different machine. I bought a computerized viking 15 years ago. It is okay, but no more vikings. | | * * * | | Carrie-Jane | 7/10/09 | I used to own one of these and found that mine sewed nicely and had good stitches. The one thing I didn't like was the loud noise of the motor. | | * * * |
