| | What luv2stitch likes about this machine My first machine was a reconditioned Singer Athena 2000, which I have dearly loved. It just recently lost its zigzag. I was tickled to get a replacement for under $200 from SewingInUSA because this Elna model was being discontinued. I had to have a one step buttonhole and I like the newer motor (lighter weight and more powerful.) The extra pressure foot lift height is great. Also it has some updated stitches like the edge joining one that come in handy. I really appreciate that it takes standard needles as I go thru quite a few. I am happy with what I got for the price, and I expect the machine will be quite durable and hassle-free like my Singer was. What luv2stitch does not like about this machine I wish the accessory case was behind the bobbin compartment instead of in front so I didn't have to remove it every time I change the bobbin. I guess that's what you get with a front loading bobbin. Otherwise, I haven't minded losing my drop in bobbin because even tho the thread remaining isn't visible, the bobbins hold more thread.
The one step buttonhole foot seems less sturdy than the one on my old Singer, and the buttonhole legs don't stitch as close together (this was adjustable on that 70's machine!)
It would have been nice to get a low speed limiter like the Singer had.
I did want to stick with a mostly mechanical model but the stitch selector is slow to use and clunks. | *LOGIN to add a comment to this review *Only registered members can post comments to the reviews. Membership is free. if you are not a member, please Sign-up now! |

| Reader Comments | | Mufffet | 7/4/09 | The stitch selector is rather stiff on these machines, but works so well. I liked the four step buttonhole on my 2110, and love these machines! It's nice to have adjustable presser foot pressure and a nice accessory case instead of the open compartment so many have. :) Enjoy your machine. I wonder why they are blue now and not pink and purple (2110 and 2130 respectively). | | * * * |
