Just wanted to add to the comments from Soolip, thanks for all the info on this machine just got it yesterday. Salvation Army in Rhode Island. It's beautiful and in it's orginal cabinet, which is birds eye maple and still pristine.
Glad to know I got a good machine and am looking forward to using it a lot in the future. What MaryEllenBarnatt does not like about this machine

I was lucky enough to buy a treadle 201 this week on eBay. I have used it for a couple of days and I am absolutely bowled over by how brilliant this machine sews. I also own a wonderful Pfaff 1471 and new Bernina 440QE. Both awesome machines but I've gotta tell ya, this Singer 201k is up there with the rest of the best for quality of stitch. Amazing! I was about to give up and then there she was. Waiting on me. In excellent shape. The jappaning is flawless. The machine really looks nice. I can't wait to get her up and running.
