What Elizabeth Zacharias likes about this machine
I love that it sews the thickest fabric with ease and the flimsiest as well.I bought it used so it is about 10 years old but I love it.And the rolled hem is wonderful feature to have.
I have had to learn everything by trial and error because this was 1st serger and I had no idea what I was doing at 1st But now that I've had it 4 yrs I think I've finally got it down.

What Elizabeth Zacharias does not like about this machine
The instruction manuel is not very helpful escpecially if you don't know anything about sergers. Also make sure the thread is tightly pulled into the tension disks or your stitching will be all wonky. When I just got it it serged great ,then my kids played on it and it was all wacky so I thought somthing was wrong I think I got it serviced 2 times in a very short time period and all it really needed was the threads to be pulled tight.Ah the joys of having kids.

poplin 2/8/10Thank you for your review. I have this same model Juki serger and bought it brand new nearly two years ago. I'm glad to know that even after ten years, yours is still going strong!

maryl 2/9/10I have one too and just love it. Thanks for the review.

fabb 2/9/10Thanks for the review. I'm looking at this serger as I have a Janome 9102D I am not bonding with at all.

Babylock52 2/9/10Thanks for the review. Given the age of the machine, I wondered if you have to make a major adjustment to do rolled hems, like changing the sole plate.

Julia C 2/9/10Babylock 52, I also have this. You only have to push the "finger" forward/backwards to go between regular serged edge & rolled hem. Takes 1 second. I also have "Gramps" Bernette 335 from 1988. Other than size, very similar. The Juki is easier to thread the lower looper as you can bring that piece forward. The 644 is stationary there like my Bernette.

LuceLu 2/10/10I had the Bernette 006D for nearly 10 years, which is exactly the same as the 644 model. I ended up selling it as threading the lower looper was such a pain. It did have a lovely stitch and I miss that. I love my Imagine however the rolled hem is not as nice as the Bernette/Juki 644. I am sure it is the same with the 654.
