Discuss Sewing Machines with PR members Sewing Machine Forum | | What Juanita47 likes about this machine This is my first experience with an embroidery machine so I can't compare it to another product. I love the simplicity of use. I don't have the instructional dvd yet but have been able to use by watching online demos. So far I have only done three designs for a baby quilt and a monogram on a pair of pajamas. It is very easy to thread so I don't mind changing the threads. You can set the scissors for auto cutting, can resize and position the design. The on screen editing is pretty uncomplicated. The stitch counter will go backwards or forward in 10 stitch increments, if the thread breaks. The computer will tell you how long the design will take and what colors to use. You can program it for each of (4) different brands of thread to get those color numbers. You can wind the bobbin without unthreading the machine. It comes with 2 sizes of hoops and you can transfer designs using a flash drive. I haven't tried this yet as there are 100 designs and three different fonts programmed in. I have a lot to learn about threads, stablizers and templating. I was told that the machine likes polyester thread better but I have bought some Anton Robinson rayon. I had a couple of thread breaks the first time I used it but used it for 1 hour the other night and did not have any breakage so I think I was not being careful enough when threading. I think the embroidery is beautiful and all in all, I love this machine. It is very sturdy and pretty quiet. I am going to take a class on the machine in a month or so and will review again down the road when I have used more of the features and have become a little more proficient in the use. This machine also has a free arm but I don't know how useful that will be. I wanted a reliable, well made embroidery machine with the larger hoop and a flash drive and I didn't want to pay thousands of dollars (may need that for the thread and supplies - lol). After much deliberating and comparing, this one fills the bill and I guess only time will tell how reliable it is. I like the fact that the embroidery machine is working by itself while I use the sewing machine or serger. What Juanita47 does not like about this machine I don't like the way the accessories are stuffed in the bed in a little plastic bag. Seems like an easy to get to acccessary tray would be in order. Other than that, no dislikes so far. | *LOGIN to add a comment to this review *Only registered members can post comments to the reviews. | Reader Comments | | Mufffet | 1/23/12 | Thanks for a good review! | | * * * | | Grandma52 | 1/23/12 | I'm glad you like your 350E. I LOVED mine. I traded my 350 in on the new Janome with the huge hoops. You will love learning all there is to know about your macine. Good luck | | * * * | | Franksdottir | 1/24/12 | I have this same machine, and this was also my first experience with machine embroidery. You will soon learn all about stabilizers and the like. As for the thread, it seems that every machine is different. Mine loves Sulky, other machines hate it. Some people swear by Floriani, in my machine it is too slippy. I don't think that it is anything to worry about. | | * * * | | sew2006 | 1/24/12 | The Janome 350E's a great machine and it's an addictive hobby. Best rule of thumb for threads try a couple of spools from different brands to see what works for you before investing big $ in any brand. Janome makes their own thread and it's rayon. | | * * * | | SewBusy63 | 1/24/12 | I had the 350E and loved it. I sold it to move up to Bernina combo machine with a larger hoop. I used a variety of thread with no problems. The Janome pre-wound bobbins worked the best for me. Get yourself a small set of drawers or container for the accessories. The 350E is an excellent embroidery machine. Enjoy it! :) | | * * * |
