What csg359 likes about this machine
I started with a Pfaff 1471 about 27 years ago. I still have it, and in fact bought a 2nd one on ebay as backups. About 4 years ago I bought a Pfaff Creative Vision. I have kept my 1471's and thought I would use them as backup machines. The ONLY time I have pulled them out is when I have been sewing heavy denim seams. I'm not sure the Vision wouldn't have done it, but I wanted to be safe rather than sorry. About 6 months ago I bought a Creative Sensation. It's the newer version of the Vision with some great upgrades. I cannot say enough about either of these Creative machines. I have the Vision for sale, and it only has 40 hours on it, but I wanted to try the Vision. I have never been brave enough to try another brand after getting started with the Pfaff brand. I have learned to demonstrate both the Creative machines and do that for fun with one of the local dealers in her quilt shop.
There are so many things to love about this machine:
-the new tension guide for thread that makes the top and bottom sides of the embroidery just as beautiful as the other;
-the IDT, of course...I'm spoiled by always having had that
-the ability to design quilting outlines and quilt in the hoop so that each block is absolutely perfect;
-the continued upgrading of the 5D software I use;
-the stitch quality is superb;
-the way I can do things I haven't even imagined yet from cutwork on bath towels to quilting (both free motion and in the hoop) to heirloom sewing and on and on;
-I've even made the wrapped corded pottery on both machines and they have done an amazing job on those!
-the LED lighting is very much appreciated as I get older;
-the way the beginning thread on a color change in the embroidery is locked in and never comes undone;
-the throat to the right of the needle;
-the varying needle positions;
I was nervous when I paid a lot of money for the Vision because I was just afraid it was going to be a 'lightweight' compared to my 1471. That is NOT the case at all. Both the Vision and the Sensation are workhorses as well. I don't sew full time as I work very hard. But when I do sew I try to spend lots of hours at one time doing it as it is relaxing for me. I absolutely LOVE all of my Pfaffs and don't ever see me switching in this lifetime. In fact, I don't see me ever moving past the Sensation now. I've got the top of the line...do I really need something else to learn? I haven't learned nearly everything this wonderful pal will do.

What csg359 does not like about this machine
I wouldn't say I don't like the needle threader. I have noticed that with cotton threads I don't have any trouble with the needle threader, but with rayon threads that I use for embroidery I get a little frustrated sometimes. I wish they had my 1471 needle threader on this machine. It was absolutely foolproof! But then again...I am getting older and it's hard to teach the old dog new tricks.

Merry Christmas! Very Nice Review! Sounds like a wonderful machine, especially after reading the whole "Purple Haze" thread that was over 200 pages. Everyone seemed to love the Creative Performance too! Enjoy your new machine. Butter Bean

Very nice review. If I were in the market for a new machine I'd have to test drive this model!

No the needle threader on the sensation leaves a lot to be desired. I guess that is he trade off for a wonderful piece of machinary.

I agree about the needle threader. I used my 1473 20+ years and never remembering not getting the needle threaded the first time. Wonder why they changed it!

Many thanks for your excellent review. I've owned my CS for exactly one year, and love this machine with its many unique features. Being new to machine embroidery, I still have a lot to learn, but am thoroughly enjoying the journey. Initially, I, too, had problems with the needle threader. Rather than using my left index finger to pull down the needle threader handle, my Pfaff sewing rep suggested using my third or fourth left finger instead, which then frees up the index finger to guide the thread into the threader hook area (if need be) so it can then be pulled through the needle eye. Since following this procedure, I've not experienced any further problems with the needle threader, and it seems to work with all types of thread. Hope this suggestion may help others!
