What zanylady likes about this machine
A basic machine, perfect for the beginner, as a back up machine, or one to carry to classes. It has 5 stitches, straight, zigzag and 3 decorative.
It is easy to thread and easy to use. It does a 4 step buttonhole which aren't bad. Uses a standard bobbin.
I tried all the stitches on 4 to 8 layers of denim as well as on plain cotton. The stitches were all nice and even on both sides.
It even allows you to oil the machine, and tells you how to do it in the manual.
The manual is in 4 languages. What zanylady does not like about this machine
It is noisy, more so than most of my vintage machines.
The description on the box says it has 25 stitch functions, however there are 6 straight lengths, 4 zz widths and so on. It is misleading.
I do not like the preset length and width of stitches, although it probably doesn't matter to many people that much.
Its not an expensive machine and would probably be a good one to teach a child to sew. |

When I was recently planning a Brother sewing machine purchase, I read such good reviews over a long period of time for this model. It's good to see your experience with lighter and thicker weight fabrics.
