What HDWen likes about this machine
I like the 10" harp, the automatic cutters, Love the needle position setting for up or down for piercing! I like being notified when bobbin thread is almost out. The "easy" threader it not an automatic, but it is easy to work with!

**Edited Because I've now had this machine 2 months! I am still very impressed with everything this machine does. Because of the large harp space, I was able to quilt an over-sized Queen. I have used the Fonts and they are decent, along with several of the fancy stitches which look good. There are some features I still haven't used. There is a special button hole foot that plugs into the side of your Needle - You chose the size button and the style of hole and it just DOES it for you! Ok this is not the foot you add to your needle and stick a button IN, this "reads" what button size you want and spits the buttonholes out. VERY cool!

**Answering a few questions - Yes I bought this as a Floor model online and decided making the warranty void getting it at TONS less was worth paying for any maintenance it may need. NO - This 875 Q DOES need a Walking foot - You can also buy a special Stitch in the Ditch foot that can be used with the Walking Foot - But I have quilted one time without the walking foot and Definately can say - this machine still works TONS better using a walking foot!

The walking foot, special SID foot and another foot I ordered special - not generic I wanted the real deal (since I did get the machine cheaper), they were expensive all together about $180! The walking foot alone is over $100, but worth every penny.

Sherry - No the Special Edition model is the Viking 140th anniversary edition (Gorgeous Red!) with a fancy case :-) I hope you enjoy your 835!

What HDWen does not like about this machine
I don't like some of the Plastic feet. The plastic 1/4" foot made the fabric want to tug to the left. When I switched to the metal quarter inch foot this was no longer an issue.

I have put this through various tests (that I know so far about this machine), and they worked good (Lettering I used for quilt labels). I do not have the walking foot so don't know how it will working Quilting yet -- BUT with the extra large Harp I can't wait to begin my 1st quilt on this.

VERY satisfied.

***Edited since I've had this for 2 months steady use now -- To change from the normal feet to the Walking foot is hard for me - The screw is on the Left side of the needle and it is awkward. The other feet change easy. I am also not used to having to get the screwdriver out to simply change the needle -- I don't use the special tool that comes with - Thought that was a bit stupid imho, but you do need to use the screwdriver to change needles.

Interesting - can you flesh this out a bit with the features of the machine and your reasons for this choice? I like these machines, they can do so much, and there must be a lot more to say here! :)

Curious, was this machine purchased used, as at my dealer the 875 is selling for around 1800?

I just got the model just below yours---the835. I didn't think I'd be quilting, but kind of wish I'd gone a step up. I LOVE Viking! My last one I kept over 20 years. Did you get the anniversary case with all the extra stuff? I did & just love it. With my Babylock server, I am set!

I happened to talk with the local Viking dealer here and he mentioned that most people do not need a walking foot anymore with this machine.
