The motor sounds strong, quiet and purrs evenly. This machine has the best stitch quality I have seen. The satin stitch is beautiful; the straight stitch and zigzag are perfect everytime. The tension is easy to adjust and seems more accurate then my Brother PC-420 PRW machine I also use (there is a rating for that machine too.)
This machine sews at two speeds, fast and slow. The fast is perfect for piecing and free motion quilting. The slow is pretty slow for my needs but good for intricate work. I do prefer the metal bobbins to the plastic ones, I think they work better for this model.
Even thought this machine is older (mine was originally purchased in 1995) the accessories are readily available. The motor sounds like a Mac truck as opposed to my Brother which is more like a Honda Civic. That being said I still use my Brother for decorative stitches, some specialty feet I don't want to repurchase and it's the machine my 6 year old uses. I would not recomment the Pfaff 6091 for children, but it would be good for new sewers or sewers that want a good, basic machine without investing a lot of money.
I am so pleased with this machine. It doesn't has a ton of features but the ones it has it does REALLY WELL. I would recommend this machine to anyone as long as it came from an owner that took care of it. What mamahmendez does not like about this machine There isn't a lot I don't like and nothing I can't live with.
The light isn't very bright. I can still see what I am doing and the fabric just fine but for intricate work I use an additional OTT table light.
The throat space isn't HUGE. It is similar to others though.
I had to get used to using the hand wheel again... Took about 5 minutes, no biggie.
I think that is it. | *LOGIN to add a comment to this review *Only registered members can post comments to the reviews. Membership is free. if you are not a member, please Sign-up now! |

IDT on this one too - so the best possible sewing machine you could wish for!

Nice review and sounds like a winner. I just don't think I could live with those funky decorations, but it reflects the era I suppose, as do many other brands as well. I prefer the 1471 and the new Pfaffs in appearance. But of course the most important thing is how it sews. Enjoy!

THanks for the review! I know what you mean about it being loud but effective. I miss my 1171 and its perfect straight stitches. I have been combing the online classifieds for a good older Pfaff too! Glad you found yours!!

I have one of these too and love it. It is such a good, reliable machine and has the IDT too boot.
