What loti likes about this machine This is not a review of the machine but information on what type of upgrades exist for the Artista 200 from simple to the 730. I found this information while doing some research and have always been confused by the different upgrades available. They are listed from least expensive to most expensive.
#1. A 200 that still has it's original 32mb of internal memory and has not had any firmware updates. Could be firmware version 4.04 on back.
#2. A 200 that still has it's original 32mb of memory but only has had it's firmware updated to the latest version 4.51
#3. A 200 that has had it's Mini Print circuit board upgraded to 64mb (a 200 “non BSR” Mini Print) and it's firmware updated to the latest version 4.51
#4. A 200 that has had a 730 BSR 64mb Mini Print circuit board upgrade installed with the latest version 4.51 update. The information can be viewed on the service screen (that is how you can tell what upgrades/updates have been installed).
#5. A 200 that has had the complete 730 BSR update kit installed in it. The upgrade includes a 730 BSR Mini Print board with 64mb of memory. Included in that $1,200.00 plus upgrade is the plug in wire across the back of the machine that plugs into the new machines end cap that has the BSR plug outlet. The BSR foot and a Bernina USB memory stick. This complete upgrade is the most expensive and adds the most to the cost of the machine.
Updated, upgraded, 200/730, same as a 730.....whatever the term that is used in a Bernina 200 ad, one term is not right and one is not wrong. As you now know there are several important differences. Differences that make one machine worth more than another. What loti does not like about this machine

Thank you for this information. This is so useful to be able to ask questions if buying a used 200.

Very useful info, Loti, thanks! Great to post it in the reviews to be easily found by shoppers researching the 200/730. I had no idea there were these permutations. So often sellers refer to a "200 upgraded to a 730" as if it will be exactly the same except the cosmetics.
