This is a great serger. I bought it and used it a bit and then stopped sewing for awhile and now I'm back to it and using the serger again.
It's so easy to thread, if a thread breaks (which has only happened once), it doesn't have to be entirely re-threaded in a special order, you can just fix that one thread.
It's easy to change modes, no tension settings, etc. Just follow the quick guide and change from A to B to C, etc. All the knobs are right up front and easy to use.
Takes any kind of fabric, no problems.
Basically this is a worry free, super easy to use machine. I really want to take more serger classes to be able to use all the features this has to offer, but in the meantime I'm having fun doing what I know how to do.
#1, no free arm!!!! You'd think for a machine of this high level and price, I'd get a free arm. Hell, my cheap-o Brother 1034D has a free arm! SO, when I really need that free arm, I have to thread the Brother and deal with it's problems instead :-(
#2, no presser foot lift. The presser foot doesn't lift at all, it kinda rocks back a little to get your fabric underneath, but sometimes you really need that pressure from the presser foot and you won't get that with this machine.
#3, no scrap catcher. Again, my super cheap Brother has a plastic scrap catcher. Sure it gets in the way sometimes, but it's also super convenient. Again, it's little things that matter sometimes.
#4, it's kinda loud. I thought this would be MUCH quieter than my Brother, but it's really not. It's still pretty loud. This isn't a super big deal, I'll put up with it to have this machine which is generally pretty darn awesome!
